The tires are suitable for light to medium-duty off-road riding, but should also perform well on hard-pack trails and pavement.

The Argus line of fat tire MTBs shows how Mongoose is willing to stand out in the crowd for the sake of something different. Schwinn, on the other hand, with their more conservative approach to MTBs, doesn’t have a similar collection of fat tire bikes to offer. The name Schwinn doesn’t ring of dirt jumping or single-track riding. On the other hand, Mongoose is a company that has attempted to position itself as an authority in the mountain bike culture of extremes.
But, unlike riding on an indoor cycling bike, outdoor cycling does present some risks. Research suggests that the overall injury rate for mountain biking is about 16.8 injuries per 1,000 hours of riding. I can tell you from my personal experience that when you look at the frames of either Mongoose or Schwinn, you’ll usually see the difference in quality. I enjoy my Schwinn and am not unhappy about my decision to purchase it, or the replacement components I purchased. This bike is the perfect combination of quality components, performance and price. You truly cannot beat it when you’re shopping for a beginner mountain bike, or even just a cheap mountain bike that will last.
