Cuisinart® Air Fryer Toaster Oven w Grill #TOA-70

She has worked in test kitchens for small kitchen appliance brands and national magazines, including Family Circle and Ladies’ Home Journal. We liked the spacious square basket of the Instant Vortex 6-quart Air Fryer, which offers a lot of surface area for evenly cooking food. We also appreciated that this model allows you to silence the beeps, which can be annoying. This was frustrating enough in our tests that we had to dismiss it. The manual claims that this multitiered system is the model’s “fat-removal technology,” which extracts fat from food and captures it all below the “fat reducer” at the bottom of the air fryer.

This assertion is misleading, since the “technology” is just a plastic lid that rests over the bottom of the bucket where the fat collects. In reality, the tray was just one more item we had to clean, so we wouldn’t recommend using it . The TOA-65 embodies smart convenience and versatility cuisinart air fryer oven in a multicooker. Its intuitive interface is easy to navigate, the preprogrammed settings make sense and most of the features work well, eliminating the need for individual specialty equipment. This small yet mighty appliance won me over and earned a place next to the kettle.

These are great for fries and certain veggies, but beware that fatty foods, including chicken wings, will drip through as they cook and it ain’t pretty. The Emeril Power Air Fryer 360 Plus is a good-looking appliance at a reasonable price. While it does a good job of air frying foods, you’ll need to extend the times from the presets for well-browned, crispy results. As a toaster oven, it’s large enough to toast six slices of bread and roast a whole chicken.

I have yet to use the convection and broil settings, but it’s only a matter of time before quarantine cooking compels me to do so. The control panel is loaded with features to toast, broil, roast, dehydrate, air fry, etc., but what really impressed me was that I was able to fine-tune the preset features to my liking. The preset is more like a guide panel pointing you in the right direction, but you have total control over choosing the time, temperature, and airflow.

The oven is definitely user-friendly, and the presets take the guesswork out for someone just starting to cook. I cooked 4.51 pounds of whole chicken, toasted six rounds of bagels or bread at one go, and made a 2-pound bag of French fries in no time. The dial gets hot during cooking, especially while air frying, so I had to be careful with it especially when using the oven for cooking multiple things one after the other.

As it was, these two produced the most even and attractive toast that corresponded to the preset, but the Ninja (winner!) did it in half the time. The Breville, KitchenAid and Crux barely toasted the bread at all when set to medium — which simply means you’d have to use a darker setting — while the Cuisinart over-toasted the bread. Breville won the fry test with perfectly golden fries in six minutes.

Since you’ll be using either the oven rack or the air fry basket, be sure you have space to store the one you’re not using, as well as the baking dish and any other accessories. None of the Cuisinart’s accessories were particularly easy to clean, despite the manufacturer’s claims – especially not the air frying basket. While the air frying function doesn’t make full use of that generous 17-liter capacity, the width of the Cuisinart Airfryer Toaster Oven does grant more real estate to spread out your food while cooking. If you currently find yourself overloaded with panini makers, toasters and other small appliances, the Cuisinart Airfryer Toaster Oven can help you clear some counter space.

Seven functions let you air fry, bake, broil, warm, toast, convection bake and convection broil, offering extra versatility. A 60 minute timer, auto shut off and toast shade selector lend added convenience. And the stainless steel construction ensures long-lasting use and durability. An air fryer’s heating elements are usually on the top of the unit along with a large fan, and it cuts down cook time significantly. You also don’t need to preheat with this air fryer which, when you’ve been working all day and need things to be quick and easy, is huge.

But it’s one of the best kitchen appliances I own and definitely our most-used appliance. Chicken wings are almost universally loved and a very popular item to air fry. The goal for an air-fried wing is a crispy outside and skin with a juicy inside.

In another life, I rustled pots and pans as a professional chef in New York City restaurants. While I can crank out a huge holiday meal with the best of them, these days I’m mostly making family meals that involve the toaster oven, and increasingly the air fryer. The oven is beautifully designed with intuitive, easy-to-read electronic controls. The preprogrammed times and temperatures cover many functions and types of food.
