Levoit LV H132 Air Purifier Review: A Tiny But Useful Solution

Once you have combated the mould problem, the Levoit air purifier is an easy way to prevent the mould from returning. As with any other air purifier, there are a few key steps to keeping the unit running smoothly. We compare the results by looking at the overall air levoit purifier quality index, and particulate count based on PM2.5 and PM10. To test the full performance of any air purifier that comes through our doors, we use the same testing process. For a balance of size, performance, and usability, there are two models worth highlighting.

The high-efficiency Activated Carbon layer absorbs VOCs, including harmful chemicals and fumes whilst helping remove unpleasant odors from your home. One of the significant differences of this model is that it uses one-button control, unlike the others with a multi-button control panel. The one-button design enhances the simplicity of the design and is perfect for those who prefer not to fiddle around with settings but want to let the unit get on with it. As the top unit in Levoit’s Core series, the 600S embodies power and performance. With its 3-stage filtration system of pre-filter, H13 HEPA, and Activated Carbon, this unit makes light work of pollutants, seen with its colossal CADR score of 410 CFM. Noise Noise is based in instrument measurements with the model running at a low speed.

Since they’re meant for indoor use, most air purifiers are better looking than, say, that wall AC unit you had in your dorm room at college. If you’re getting one for a small room, you likely want a small purifier — or at least one that’s nondescript. Despite the best efforts of the filters in our air conditioners and furnaces, pollen and dust particles can settle into carpets and upholstery. And if there are pets or smoke involved, there can be even more particulates in the air.

That’s a nice additional use for an appliance that will sit in your living room or bedroom. But the horizontal airflow also creates a constant breeze in the room when the machine is operating, which might not be desirable. At about $100, the Core 300 is inexpensive up front, but it is not an energy-efficient purifier, especially for its size. The Core 300 draws 34.6 watts on medium (and 31.8 watts on low), while the much more powerful AP-1512HH draws just 8.1 watts.

According to the manufacturer, statically charged fibers trap 99.99 percent of bacteria and viruses, though I had no way of verifying that in home testing. Finally, a third filter of activated carbon fiber gets rid of smells levoit air filter and fumes. After the first 30 minutes of operation, the Core 300 reduced the particulates in the room to 16.7% of the original particulate matter. After a full hour, there were only .003% of measurable particulates left.

You can even keep track of the filter life and order new filters through the app. If you’re looking for a feature-rich purifier, you’d be better off considering some of the more expensive options on the market. Aside from a nightlight, a choice of three different speed settings, and a filter replacement light that blinks when it’s time to swap filters, the Levoit doesn’t have any additional functionality.

Considering the performance alone, all of the Levoits were really great. The only air purifier that didn’t get the AQI down to 0 is the Levoit LV-H132. Both of these purifiers took PM2.5 and PM10 down to 0.1 and particulate count to under 15 particles. If you’re looking for a more budget friendly air purifier that still has good area coverage , the Levoit Vista 200 may be the right choice. In addition to its solid cleaning performance, this purifier has four different filters you can choose from.

When set to the medium setting, we measured 58 decibels, which were still quite noticeable. On the low setting, it produced 52 decibels; while much quieter, it was still noticeable. This machine does have a sleep setting which produced a noise that was all but unnoticeable and dimmed the display lights. The Levoit Core 300 stands out for having excellent air-purifying capabilities, particularly for its size. It offers some of the most customizable programing options of any of the models we tested and even includes a sleep mode. Weighing 7.5 pounds, it’s easy to move this machine from room to room.

We tested the purifier in a bedroom with two people and a shedding Bassett hound, running it overnight for a week. Following our initial run, we turned it off for a few nights to compare the difference in air quality. While we didn’t notice any significant difference during the week it was running, we could certainly tell during the off-days that the unit had indeed been doing its job when it was on.
