The Wyze thermostat is solidly built and is of great value for money. I own several Wyze products like cameras and smart plugs. Wyze is also working on getting the thermostat Energy Star efficient. I am sure with upcoming firmware updates; more features will be added in the future. My next review will be the Wyze doorbell, which is on preorder and should arrive next month. This can be done at your power box, or mine has a power switch right on the furnace.

To load their devices with high-quality features, Wyze, unfortunately, has to take some shortcuts with hardware. While the wyze security camera doesn’t look terrible, it has a cheap, plastic feel, has not-to-touch features, and uses a simple dial control for adjustments made at the thermostat. With a C-wire, the Nest Thermostat will draw power to charge the battery through the common wire. Without a C-wire, it is designed to draw power from the HVAC system only when it is on, either heating or cooling your home.
The Wyze smartphone app includes a nifty chart that tracks your usage. The wyze home security does require a C-wire, although an included adapter allows you to upgrade nearly all existing setups. There are a few quirks that might make it less than perfect for some households, but most families will find heaps of value in the frugal Wyze Thermostat. For our last test, we looked at the accuracy of each thermostat by comparing their measured temperature with a calibrated digital thermometer placed in the same room. The Wyze did alright but definitely wasn’t one of the more accurate models that we have seen, earning it a score in the middle of the group. The app can be very helpful when it comes to guiding you through the setup.
Also, the app can help you choose whether you want to save more energy or want more comfort. What makes the Wyze Thermostat much interesting is that it comes with a voice commanding support. There is also a powerful proximity sensor that lights up the thermostat screen when you approach. The two thermometers on the device also work pretty well to get an accurate temperature reading every time. You will now see wires running from your heating/cooling system attached to the back panel of your old thermostat. Originally promised in 2021, this is a small, wireless device that pairs with the smart home company’s Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat, which launched in December 2020.
