Igloo announces ECOCOOL version of its Trailmate Cooler, made of recycled plastic

The lid has moulded in bungee chord loops that can be used so you can attach extra items to the lid of your cooler. The cooler is raised off the ground by it’s wheels as well as the skid rails and non-slip rubber feet. These wheels work exactly how they are meant to and it’s great to see some large wheels on a cooler for once. It’s not a super cheap, super basic cooler like the Coleman Xtreme that might set you back less than $50. But it’s also not as expensive as something like a Yeti cooler where a similar size Yeti 75 costs .
When traversing grassy fields to beach dunes or dirt roads to wooded trails-wherever your heart desires, the Igloo Trailmate will get there with ease and be the life of the part day or night. Overall, this cooler crushed the trails and kept ice for days. If you need a go anywhere cooler that looks cooler than most may be suggest the Trailmate Cooler from Igloo.
It’s really cool to see a cooler that can do so many things and isn’t missing something as simple as a bottle opener or cup holders (see my list of problems with Yeti coolers). It has a very innovative design featuring large wheels, a pull out side handle and everything for external baskets and compartments to cup holders, interior dry baskets and bottle openers. This cooler not only stands out from the crowd but it performs really well too. This is the part where we usually pay more attention to what a cooler has to offer and that makes sense because this is every cooler’s primary purpose. Igloo promises a solid 4 days of ice retention for The Trailmate cooler which is pretty decent for its size and the fact that it’s not roto-molded.
This cooler is even beach-ready with a couple of holes to hold a beach umbrella or fishing rod. There are a number of exterior storage pocket to hold items like sunscreen, bug spray or a book and a dedicated slot in the lid that holds your mobile device upright where you can easily view it. This is the sort of cooler we’d go for here at Coolector HQ and it is definitely going to serve your camping and BBQ endeavours well. The Igloo Trailmate, due to its many additional features, large size, and decent ice life, does fetch a higher asking price than most other Igloo products.
This feature is something that you will find on very few other coolers on the market and it is a great way to stand out from the crowd while having a nifty feature. For what it’s worth, this was one of our “fan favorites” among friends and family while we were conducting an ice retention test which included 25 different coolers. A quick look at the

will reveal its’ unique stance. This is not a run of the mill budget cooler yet not a roto molded cooler, it falls somewhere in between. The solid rubber wheels make moving on rough terrain easy and you never have to worry about them deflating. The strong metal pull arm is also high quality as is the entire cooler.
Igloo also includes a tray/cutting board which lays on top of the extended handled. When the tray not in use, this can be placed on the inside of the cooler lid. It also has exterior storage pockets to

I go into full details on my article about the problems with Igloo Trailmate coolers. This cooler is blow-molded, not roto-molded, and so the external plastic isn’t as strong as a roto-molded cooler. They have a huge manufacturing plant that makes over 15 million coolers per year and all of the Trailmate coolers come out of this plant. One of the great things about Igloo coolers is that they manufacture them locally in the USA.
Let’s start with the one thing that you may have already heard and read about many times before considering a portable cooler in the first place; roto-molded construction. Their first cooler saw the light back in 1947 and there was nothing but progress, innovation and more creation ever sense. It has a 70-quart capacity that can fit up to 112, 12-ounce cans and is available for $339.99. The ECOCOOLER Trailmate is made with post-consumer recycled plastic. It has a 70-quart capacity that can fit up to 112, 12-ounce cans. All product names, logos, and brands are property of their respective owners.
While you will pay more for the Igloo Trailmate than most other Igloo products, we still feel that it is a bargain for what you are getting. The sheer number of great accessories justifies a lot of this higher asking price and even as a simple cooler, it does a decent enough job to not make us gasp too much at the asking price. The combination of the aggressive wheels and the rigid exposed metal makes for a very tough and intimidating look. And the layout of this cooler is unique and is sure to stand out from the crowd.
