The Matte line claims to provide full-coverage color that feels supple and smooth on the lips. The formula is infused with various botanicals, including agave, moringa oil, and capuacu butter. I like the shade range as they have a lot of different colors and tones to suite everyone. It’s just a couple are so drying i threw them away. I have one that I really liked, and the formula was perfect, but the shade wasn’t even close to what was advertised.
It’s very nuanced for a drugstore shade. I haven’t explored any of the other colors, but would love to. Qent on velvety smooth and definitely compliments my skin tone and even went with my red wig. I believe it would have went with my black hair but it did give me a younger look with my gray showing through. Definitely came closer to the front of the post card and was closer to a magenta than the red that was on the bottom of the lipstick. If I went by that color on the bottom of the lipstick alone to purchase, I would have been disappointed.
Some version of it is a pH-sensitive dye that enables a colorless lip balm to turn red/pink upon application. Diisopropyl Dimer Dilinoleate is an oil-like, emollient liquid that gives a cushiony feel to skin and make-up products. It has a good combination of rich feel, but good slip and low tack. This color has been around since the FIFTIES. This lipstick gives such a “girly yet edgier” look to a simple outfit instantly.
Some of these are actually beautiful, not too matte, more of a blurry cloudy effect. Milky could be a perfect word but again, you need to visualize that in the terms of the shades. Again though, I must emphasize that some shades are wildly different when it comes to the quality. The gems in this line are just that, gems!
That being said, yes, this is tricky to apply. My instinct was to draw an outline around my mouth first then fill it in, as I do with most liquid lipsticks. But revlon matte lipstick don’t do that – you’ll get a super patchy result! The trick is to apply it in the center first then spread it outwards to fill in the shape of your lips.
