In the setup category, the Coleman Instant Tent 6 is a true standout amongst our 2021 review, and we were quite impressed with what it could do. This is a great tent to bring along for the kids or some extra covered storage, but not ideal for the entire family. At only 56 sq ft, this will be tight quarters, and should the rain come, spending a full day in this tent will test everyone’s strength. The Cabin is the perfect kids’ tent, parent tent, or gear tent, but you only get to choose one. I wouldn’t consider this as an instant tent as it takes more time to set up. The poles are not pre-attached, you have to lay them one by one and attach them to the tent body.
The Coleman Company is one of the most well-known and widely recognized names in the outdoors industry. They invented the modern gas lantern, set the standard for portable camping stoves, and revolutionized the modern portable cooler, all of which happened before they ever sold coleman screen tent their first tent in 1960. If you decide you’re into camping for the long haul, consider this as your upgrade for the future. The canvas is sturdy and withstands rain, you can stand up in it regardless of height, and it has plenty of ventilation while keeping things private.
Outside the tent you’ll find extra storage space as well beneath the Skydome’s sizeable front vestibule which also converts into a sun awning as needed with help of a few trekking poles. However, cabin tents can have issues with strong winds due to their tall tent walls. The connections and hinges for instant tent poles are often vulnerable to breaking or bending coleman ice chest in heavy wind. The Coleman 6 person instant tent claims to be waterproof, but after further investigation, the tent has proven itself faulty. You’ll need to waterproof this tent as best you can yourself—water gets inside the tent easily and it definitely won’t withstand torrential rain. The single walls are seam-sealed and have good coverage all the way around.
If the tent is deemed defective out of the box and does not perform as advertised, or there is a material issue with the tent, it can be covered under warranty. The warranty ensures the product will be free from defects in material and workmanship [Reference]. Personally, I’ve had only positive experiences with Coleman tents. But, I haven’t had to weather a torrential storm in one (yet).
The Cabin has three large windows, easy access vents in the ceiling (these are accessible from inside the tent thanks to zippers in the ceiling), and two storage pockets. The only ding on the windows is that they have no coleman instant tent ties or way to secure them once opened, so they are left to simply dangle. At 56 sq ft, you can fit two twin air mattresses with about a foot of hallway left or fill the entire tent wall to wall with a full and a twin.

Comfortable and practical, Instant Up Tents are great for touring, a weekend away camping or an even longer stay. The same is with its height; the tent with such huge straightened walls is an obstacle for winds so rather use a dome tent if you expect very windy situations in your outdoor adventure.
