Most tabletop camp stoves, including the Coleman Classic, put out about 20,000 BTUs total. In our Cascade power test, we had no problem quickly boiling a large pot of water to make corn on the cob. The Classic has a great price-to-value ratio but it’s not exactly refined. The new Coleman Cascade Two Burner Camping Stove does pretty much everything better than the Coleman Classic. Depending on your needs, packed size may or may not play a big role in your buying decision.
The 520 stove in the middle has a steel tank and fittings and little brass; it is dated 1942. A solid, reliable, and capable camp stove is a necessity no matter where you camp. Beyond that, if you are someone who enjoys cooking a variety of food at camp — not just packaged oatmeal
and burgers — a more versatile camp stove becomes a necessity. The top cooking grate is removable to allow full access to the drip tray underneath. There’s a hole to nest the fuel adaptor when storing, creating a recess that may collect food bits over time, but nothing major.
Like we mentioned above when discussing the Cascade Camping Stove BTU output, we rarely need this kind of power, but if you do, the Camp Chef Everest 2X Camp Stove is for you. Just love it and can usually find replacement parts if necessary. I like that I don’t
need to connect a braided fuel hose to a fuel canister. The Coleman Eventemp 3 burner camp stove has all of the features you would expect on a camping stove from Coleman. The small size and weight of the Triton stove made for easy storage and carrying.
But if you want a lightweight discada pick for solo or couple adventures, this model may be a good choice. We tested one model with a built-in griddle, the Camp
Chef Rainier, and it left us underwhelmed. Its dedicated burner took longer than 20 minutes to boil 6 cups of water on full, and its griddle pan was lethargic.

We’ve singed enough fingers trying to light camping stoves with a standard Bic lighter that we think it’s worth investing in a stove with auto ignition. The convenience of being able to get your stove going with the push of a button (or twist of a knob) makes a huge difference. We also liked that this was slightly more compact than the other two-burner stoves we tested, with a slim and streamlined design.
For specialized cooking (or just for fun), these can be great options, but they’re usually less convenient and versatile for serious cooking. This stove was very close to our Top Pick in terms of its performance, and we slightly preferred the Stansport’s design and overall construction. Especially if you cook complex meals with lots of ingredients or like to cook with larger pans, the Stanspor’s three-burner design is a great addition to your camping gear.
