Bissell recalls cordless vacuum after fire reports

With the touch of a button, you can seamlessly switch from cleaning hard floors to vacuuming and refreshing your area rugs, all with one machine. A powerful 36V Li-Ion battery ensures you get constant performance throughout the entire cleaning process while enjoying the cordless freedom. The tanks need to be switched when going from vacuuming to wet mopping, but they are easy to remove and empty when your robot is done cleaning. The SpinWave’s microfiber mopping pads are machine-washable and we found the brush roll easy to remove and clean. Plus, the mop pads spin as the robot travels across your floors, making sure that it is scrubbing and not just wiping them. The same SpinWave technology can also be found in the Bissell SpinWave Hard Floor Spin Mop, a top pick in our round-up of the best mops tested by our cleaning experts.

There’s also a handy trigger lock lever to keep the vacuum running without constant finger pressure. Our top cordless vacuum picks are listed below — and keep checking back, because we’ll update this list periodically whenever new models make their way through our lab. Predicted brand reliability is based on estimated problem rates for newly purchased cordless stick vacuums, not covered by an extended warranty or service contract, within the first five years of ownership.

While we haven’t tested this model in the Lab just yet, our experts appreciate that it has edge-cleaning bristles to get the dust out of hard-to-reach places like baseboards and along the edges of cupboards. Bissell makes post-cleaning tasks easier with automatic cord rewind and a dust cup that is emptied with the touch of a button. Large wheels on the canister make the vacuum easy to pull along as you clean, too. I would say that the battery life on this vacuum is about what I would expect from a cordless vacuum.

Its cleaning performance isn’t amazing, but it’s decent, especially for the price. It doesn’t have super strong suction, but works for quick pick-ups (say, after your child has spilled a bowl of Cheerios everywhere) thanks to its low weight. Since we are renting, a friend is fostering bissell pet vacuum our dogs for us, so we do not currently have any dogs in our home. (Hopefully, we will be reunited soon though!) We do however have 3 females in our home with long hair. It felt like the brush roll on our other vacuum was constantly getting clogged and I had to cut things off.

In our testing, we found this vacuum mop easy to assemble and use and were impressed with its performance in our dry pickup and wet/dry combo pickup tests. LED headlights make it easier to see the dust in its path, and unlike traditional mops, you’re never cleaning with dirty water thanks to its separate clean and dirty water tanks. Bissell offers vacuums across a number of different varieties, including upright, cordless, stick, robotic, and canister. All of these vacuums have been thoroughly vetted, with more than 150 tests for safety, reliability, performance, and durability on each model before it’s made available to purchase. These test results are backed up by a limited warranty that can range from 90 days to lifetime, depending on the model. In truth, it’s a rare occasion that one would need more than 40 minutes of runtime for a single vacuuming session, and the prevalence of charging docks makes it easy to recharge in between cleaning runs.

This cordless vacuum even has LED headlights to illuminate any dirt or debris on the floor, and can be angled to pick up dirt in nearly any corner. The Bissell Featherweight is appropriately lightweight, bissell pet vacuum weighing in at only 4 pounds. This is significantly less than other stick vacuums on the market. You also don’t have to change bags, though the dust bin is smaller than some other models’.

The vacuum maker issued the recall after Bissell said it received dozens of reports of the battery smoking, including five in which it caught fire, according to the CPSC. BISSELL has a diverse lineup of vacuums, and their naming convention can sometimes be confusing. In broad strokes, you can outline their model lineup as follows. I also love that Bissell uses their SmartSeal Allergen System, which does a great job keeping dust inside the vacuum. For allergy sufferers, this is a noteworthy quality of the ICONpet. I’m not sure anyone wakes up in the morning thinking, “I can’t wait to vacuum,” but this cordless vac makes it a much less painful chore.

It will fall right over, as the Bissell ICONpet is not a free-standing vacuum. Here at my house, what I’ll find in furniture is a guessing game. Most of the time it’s leftover breakfast and dog hair, both of which the Bissell sweeps right up! If you have pets or children, the handheld option will save your sanity.

This vacuum does allow you to adjust the suction to 3 different levels (which means 3 different levels of power used). When I use the vacuum it lasts much longer for me because I do adjust it when I’m on the hard floor surfaces as opposed to the carpet where it needs to be on full power. When my younger kids are using it, they don’t really remember to adjust for this feature yet. We typically can not vacuum the full 1500 square foot home we live in, so we do it in sections throughout the day and week. BISSELL vacuums tend to be affordably priced and use bagless designs that keep recurring costs down. Unfortunately, they aren’t usually the best choice for all-out cleaning performance and can feel cheaply made.
