New Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000 now features artificial intelligence for a smarter shaving experience

I had to go over an area multiple times and even then the hairs weren’t cut close enough to the skin. The cutting heads were quite forgiving even when shaving my neck, usually a problem area for me. I did make sure to only use light pressure and let the weight of the razor do the work. In short, it was surprisingly good considering it’s a basic, rotary machine.

The good news is some razors come with cleaning stations to help you remember. Cleaning stations usually work well, but can sometimes be bulky and loud. Our Grooming Editor, Garrett Munce, has been testing electric razors for the past decade, when they first shot philips body groomer to popularity, so he absolutely knows what he’s talking about. Philips wet dry shavers are designed to be used either wet or dry. These electric shavers allow you the option to either shave in the shower or quickly in front of the mirror when you are in a rush.

Just make sure to take care of your razor and give it proper maintenance. And if you’re just starting out using an electric razor, give yourself a grace period for your skin to adjust (we touch on the reasoning for this more down below). If you struggle with things like razor bumps, post-shave irritation or even acne, an electric razor may offer a more gentle experience for you. If you’re looking for an affordable rotary shaver under $100 that can tackle just about any hair, you’re in luck. Philips The 3800 will grasp hairs in hard-to-reach areas (like your neck) and take on hairs of different lengths.

We believe the Braun Series 7 is worth its higher price, but the Remington F is a surprisingly competent budget alternative. It provides credible stubble-leveling results at an affordable price. Braun’s top-of-the-line electric razor offers the best shave—even for heavy beards—at a higher price. Braun’s Series 7 razors have been around in various forms for more than a decade, and they have built a reputation for producing close shaves, being durable, and providing convenience and value. It’s still our favorite razor, and it has become an even better choice because it’s significantly less expensive than it used to be.

I don’t have sensitive skin but it unfortunately took me absolutely forever to shave, now my face & neck feels like it’s burning. What was supposed to be a time saving device now takes longer than it did before & I’m lighter in the pocket, incredibly disappointed. I have gone over and over and over my neck time after time and it just wont touch it. I have used a straight razor all my life till my house was broken into and my very expensive colle tion stollen. It has left a bad taste in my mouth so I’ll never use a cut-throat again and I refuse to go to that cheap plastic disposable rubbish, so I guess my next step is a screen shaver. When shaving daily, this is where I was most concerned about my skin.

I have a thick beard and sensitive skin; a deadly combination for personal grooming. When I received the Philips 9000 Series Wet & Dry Electric Shaver, I was curious as to how it would hold up for me. The good news is that using it for weeks straight was not an issue for my sensitive skin. Among electric razors under $50, the Remington F outperformed lower-end Braun and Panasonic models in our testing. EVEN THOUGH my grooming routine is extensive, I’m a minimalist at heart. I like nothing more than an easy-to-use, no-fuss-no-muss product that can cut down my grooming time.

Expect to pay anywhere from $20-$50 for replacement blades or cartridges on your electric razor. An electric razor can lose battery life over time, which can result in less time holding a full charge and a weaker power output. An electric razor is always going to have a buffer preventing direct skin contact, so it’s not going to shave as close as a manual razor. Due to a manual razor’s design of direct skin contact, you’re going to get a much closer shave. Using a manual razor raises slight risks of getting ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and razor burn—especially if you’re not prepping your shaving routine properly and not using a clean blade.

The MultiPrecision Blade System, with rounded profile heads, glides smoothly across the skin and shaves it. The next step is another smart technology that connects to an app. For the past five years, Men’s Health has dedicated itself to discovering and recommending the best grooming products for men via hands-on testing and in-depth research. Men’s Health grooming has been featured on national news outlets like The TODAY Show and Good Morning America, showcasing the latest new grooming products for men and presenting why we love the brands we select. “This gives a remarkably close shave,” says one walmart.com reviewer.

Using shaving cream is likely to increase the amount of time you spend shaving, if you want to reach the closeness you’d get going dry. We continue to recommend Series 7 shavers for most facial hair removal (and Series 9 models for handling heavier growth). Sales often make a given higher-end model less expensive than a version a notch below it. During deals events like Black Friday or Cyber Monday, you may be able to find a higher-series model at a lower-series-like price.

Speaking of grip, I would have liked more of it as the shaver body is quite chunky and the very smooth texture of the plastic doesn’t help. The shaver is quite large, definitely larger than what the official photos might suggest, but it is very lightweight at 189 grams, so the ergonomics aren’t really affected by the size. The new philips body groomer 2300 comes with an integrated pop-up trimmer that you can use for some on-the-fly tweaks and light grooming.
