Mr Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Maker ECM150

So definitely lay your fears to rest if you were dreading running late to work from not being able to figure out your espresso machine. One of the biggest considerations across the board mr coffee machine with espresso brewing is how the milk is frothed. Most people don’t want to just drink straight shots of espresso all the time, so having a way to mix (or milk) things up is a must.

Sometimes making a whole latte or cappuccino using an automated machine can be a time suck. These machines beat air into milk, or milk substitutes, to get that nice creamy froth. Breville also makes a slightly pared-down version of the Bambino Plus, called the Bambino.

This device is just a bit larger than the other espresso makers of this price range, but not large enough to cause any inconveniences. I list this as a pro because a lot of the extra footprint is added by the large removable water tank. The automatic milk frother can be turned into a cappuccino maker or a latte maker, with the help of the froth knob.

You can remove both for emptying and cleaning, but unlike the De’Longhi Dedica, they lack a handy float to warn you when they’re full. As we discuss below, there are still a plethora of drinks you can make with these machines by just changing up the ratios. However, you won’t be able to do much in the realm of brewing experimentation aside from changing up your beans.

There are two types of cleaning for your coffee maker – regular and deep cleaning. Spending an extra $100 for a better machine such as the $300 De’Longhi Dedica , however, will pay off. Not only is the Dedica the superior espresso brewer, it’s smaller and more stylish, and it steams milk faster. This is the most important part of this whole adventure, right? The cappuccino and latte programs are only distinguished by the volume of milk dispensed. A single press of the button brews a single espresso, two presses a double, and a long press (3 seconds) activates a third feature which varies from button to button.

The one-button automatic functions are a great option, but you cannot customize the brewing time in automatic mode. This will be done without you having to mess with the frothing wand or prepare the milk yourself. The milk will turn into a creamy froth effortlessly, adding it automatically into the espresso.

Aside from the power switch located on the lower-right edge of the device, there’s a control panel that features three buttons stacked vertically (Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte). To the left of each key are indicators for automatic drink-making modes while on the right you’ll find labels for manual functions. There’s a good reason why you often pay through the nose for lattes, cappuccinos and other cafe-style drinks at your local java joint. Combining steamed milk with concentrated espresso coffee, these fancy beverages are made to order and are labor-intensive compared with ordinary pots of drip coffee.
