I won’t deny that I was shocked it really makes a great latte. I’ve tried at-home espresso makers in the past and they were so difficult to use and produced a sub par product. The small drip tray pulls out from underneath the milk reservoir, for a clan, organized look. It is often compared to semi-automatic machines, because of the low cost, but it is an automatic machine.
The Mr. Coffee espresso machine is equipped with a one-touch control panel for drink recipe selection. Once the machine stopped, I opened up the pitcher and marveled at the cloudlike foam. I slowly poured it into my coffee using the spout on the pitcher to guide the foam. This translates into unpredictable espresso quality and bars the gadget from pulling delicious flavors from lightly roasted beans. A few annoying design issues and controls make it less fun to operate than the more compact De’Longhi as well.
