According to the Specialty Coffee Association standards, the brewing temperature should be between 195 °F and 205 °F. There are inexpensive nonmechanical coffee makers out there that we recommend—French presses, stovetop moka pots, and pour-over drippers, for example—which also happen to be more sustainable than an electrical coffee maker. But maybe you prefer the push-button ease of an automatic drip coffee maker.
Once we got into the rhythm of it, it was easy to brew to our tastes every time. The carafe pours comfortably, though the lid screws off rather than opening with a hinge, which might make it more difficult for some people to open. First, make sure your machine is set up and ready to go with the carafe in place. Then, put a coffee filter in the filter basket and add enough grounds for the amount of coffee you want to make. Come back in a few minutes, and you’ll have a pot of delicious coffee waiting for you.
One of the best features on the Ninja CE251 is its removable water reservoir. Although it’s easy to fill from the top while in place on the machine, we like how convenient it is to be able to remove the whole tank, either to fill it in the sink or to clean it. The reservoir has some of the clearest markings of any of the machines we tested, and the slot in the side of the brewer for the coffee scoop is convenient (no rummaging around in drawers needed).
I don’t want to sound like I’m just mentioning the good things about this wonderful coffeemaker. However, to be honest, I don’t think there’s a negative side to it (aside from the fact that you are probably going to drink more coffee). Here at Coffeeness we set ourselves apart from other review sites by buying and testing products hands-on. After you finish brewing and the machine is shut off and cooled, you can tuck the cord away neatly to save some counter space, or not. There’s also no automatic shut off on this model, so you have to remember to turn it off when you’re done.
Not only is it easy to operate this coffee maker, but it’s also a snap to clean. Some parts are dishwasher safe, but I always recommend hand washing to prevent damage to the components. However, a house full of java enthusiasts who chug our favorite beverage like water would no doubt benefit from a coffee pot with at least a 10-cup capacity.
