Igloo Trailmate Marine Review Tested by GearLab

And when you aren’t using it, simply store it away under the cooler’s lid. The Igloo Trailmate Cooler Series is a relatively new offering by the popular cooler company, Igloo. These coolers are designed for those people who need a quality cooler with good ice life but also something easy to transport and entertain with.

We took a deeper look into the cooler that is currently selling out online, so you don’t have to. With its impressive ice retention capabilities powered by Igloo’s eco-friendly Thermacool technology and a host of convenient features, it will easily become your favorite tailgating companion. Although many Igloo models are equipped with Cool Riser Technology®, the Trailmate also excels in this area. Combined with the Ultratherm® insulation of the cooler and lid and UV inhibitors, this system allows the ice to be kept for 4 days at an ambient temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.

This cooler has been out a few years and we finally got our hands on one to put to the Tailgating Challenge. The Trailmate cooler claims to keep ice for 4 days and go anywhere with it’s 10 inch all-terrain wheels. We are on the quest to find the best coolers for whatever adventure life gives you, so now let’s learn more in the igloo trailmate Cooler Review. Additionally, its telescoping trolley handle provides an ample amount of space between the front of the cooler and the backs of your heels. This added space makes the Igloo the only wheeled cooler we tested that we never hit our heels on – a pretty big deal. And while we greatly appreciate this fact, we feel that the Trailmate still can’t quite live up to the smooth ride we got from coolers with air-filled tires.

are issued to the original form of payment; some exclusions may apply. Why we didn’t quite reach the 4-day mark that Igloo suggested, it wasn’t far off. Filling the cooler with ½ ice is pretty extreme, however. Most people aren’t going to use this much ice as it would take up way too much valuable storage volume.

And while all models will come with the features listed above, there are a couple of additional features you will find on certain models and not on the others. Seeing how the primary way to transport this cooler is by rolling it, having a handle that is designed to allow you to tow or push it is essential. This handle is a special Igloo Glide Design that allows you to pull your load up to 50% easier. This is accomplished by the added leverage that you get from the handle. In addition, the handle locks are telescoping and adjustable. While we always prefer more size options, if we had to choose just one size, a 70-quart is pretty good.

The handle is located right above both of these storage areas. Of all the wheeled coolers with telescopic/collapsing handles we have tested and reviewed, the handle on the Trailmate is the most robust. We tested pulling and pushing the cooler when filled to capacity with ice and the over sized wheels and handle rolled without issue. Igloo also includes a tray/cutting board which lays on top of the extended handled. When the tray not in use, this can be placed on the inside of the cooler lid. One of the major selling points of the igloo water cooler, in our eyes, is the myriad of features that come standard with this cooler.
