If the pride of the brand lies in its excellent touring models, road enthusiasts will find their happiness in a quality catalog at affordable prices. The 16 years old brand is mainly known for the conception of durable bicycles made of quality materials. Most of these bikes are reported by users as comfortable and reliable, some of which are record-breakers (bicycle touring in particular). Braking is done by using front disc brakes and rear rim brakes, that are both wire driven. Due to being disc brake only, the bridge between the seatstays could be removed.

The bikes are available either with rim brakes or hydraulic discs, but there is only one spec level with these bikes. The rim brake version can take tyres up to 28c, whereas the disc version can handle 30c. With its steel frame and carbon fork, asymmetrical chainstays and 650b wheels with gargantuan 50c tyres, it’s perfect if you want a bike that will take you anywhere, but don’t want a mountain bike. The ’s aluminium frame is not only strong but also durable. Almost the antithesis of the Day One, the Flyer is sublime in its simplicity.

Genesis makes road, mountain, gravel, adventure, and commuter bikes. Aside from steel, Genesis bikes come in a number of materials. The wheelset is lightweight with an internal rim width of 19mm that will take good sized rubber which means you could add some float to the ride with some high volume tyres.

With its proportions, and tapered headset it can have many higher end components added the bike to make it comparable to bikes much more expensive than it is. This includes new forks, better derailleurs, better handlebars and so much more. In contrast to the earlier bike though, it offers 7 speeds, with 1 on the front and 7 on the rear. I must say, a lot of people don’t like low end bicycles with a full suspension, as supposedly the rear shocks tend to bounce and it makes for a pogo stick affect. The angles are steep, the front end is low and there aren’t mudguard or pannier mounts. 33c tyres are specced (the maximum permitted in UCI sanctioned cyclocross races), while the maximum tyre size recommend is 35c.

Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006. The CDA on the other hand is less race and more sportive, with relaxed endurance geometry and massive tyre clearance for knobblies so you can truly take it anywhere. Genesis has a lot of bikes in its ‘other’ category, so we’ve broken them down into Adventure, genesis bicycles Cyclocross and Urban. If you’re a roadie, Genesis has a few models for you to consider. Bikes for all occasions, from all materials, that ride well, last a lifetime and look good while they’re at it. Other bikes might have the specificity to perform better in a single one of these uses, but very few bikes would be able to…

The frame is fully carbon and the cables are integrated into the frame for a cleaner look and better aerodynamics. The steel tubes of these endurance bikes, with their ability to dampen the road buzz, make them perfectly suited to long days out in the saddle. Pannier and mudguard mounts are also present on these frames, adding to their versatility. The external cable routing and threaded bottom brackets are also features that will be well apricated by home mechanics. THese tires are very durable and come with long lasting rubber allowing for an aggressive ride and great value for your money.

Given the versatility of this frame, it is perhaps to be expected that there is a large number of different builds on offer. It is available with flat bars and drop bars, carbon forks and steel forks, there’s even a titanium frame option. For each of the builds, there are different spec levels donated by a ‘10’ for the entry level and ’30’ for the top line.
