I already mentioned that the weight is not necessarily a bad feature; this is due to so strong materials used in the tent’s construction. You would use a car for transportation in any case, so kilogram or two more simply doesn’t matter. Yet another great feature; you have 6 ft 5 in (77 in; 1.96 m) height in the center.
This tent shape is beneficial for people who likes to walk around in the tent without crouching or bending down. The tent has a lantern loop inside that you can use to hang your night lamps. However, it’s very easy to unpack and pack away with respect to its travel bag, which we consider much more valuable. In the setup category, the Coleman Instant Tent 6 is a true standout amongst our 2021 review, and we were quite impressed with what it could do. The Coleman Instant Tent 6 has average dimensions for a 6-person tent, at 10’x9’ (90sqft). The peak height is 6’2”, which will allow most hikers to stand up without needing to crouch. In addition, this cabin-style tent has excellent verticality of the walls, so you shouldn’t need to crouch if you’re anywhere but in the direct center of the tent.
The Coleman 6 person instant tent claims to be waterproof, but after further investigation, the tent has proven itself faulty. You’ll need to waterproof this tent as best you can yourself—water gets inside the tent easily and it definitely won’t withstand torrential rain. Sleeping bags do have the added benefit of being easy to tuck away in the 6 person instant tent during the day, so you have more room to walk around and socialize. There’s ample room to pitch a few folding chairs, and even room for you to walk around if you’re under 6 feet tall. If you do want a sleeping bag, however, a quick review of the Monarch Sleeping Bag tells me it’s comfortable and fit for all conditions in your 6 person instant tent. You do not need an extra fly, but it may be a good idea to buy one for extra protection.
As an added bonus, these coatings can be purchased separately and applied to your tent to bolster wet weather protection from the factory. Interestingly enough, if one of these types really deserves to be called “instant” it’s going to be pop-up tents. That’s because pop-up tents literally go up instantly, requiring zero effort on your part. Their coleman instant tent entire pole system is under constant tension, which is held back by restraining straps when not in use. Undue the straps, and your tent instantly “pops” into its correct shape, leaving you to simply stake it into the ground and call it a day. We’re just thinking comfort-wise about sleeping; sleeping bags are fantastic but they don’t offer much padding. The Coleman 6 person instant tent cabin is a savior sent to anyone who hates pitching a tent. Unless you only plan to bring this tent out for the occasional dry weather camping coleman camping trip, the fact you have to buy a separate rain fly really reduced the value for money of this tent for us. You have only two very small mesh pockets for small items, so this is quite disappointing. Also, with its 59 inches (1.5 m) of peak height, this tent is really a livable space.
As far as ventilation is concerned, the only tent we recommend that has an integrated rain fly is the Coleman Instant Tent. The Night Cat came close to getting our endorsement, but cheap components prevented it from being an editor’s choice. If you want room to move around or space for a dog or your backpacks, size up. A large vestibule can be a nice addition, giving you even more space to store your things—or just sit and relax.
