Coleman Evanston Screened 6 Review Tested by GearLab

It’s a simple feature and makes a huge difference when you’re constantly popping in and out of the tent, but many cheaper screen houses lack this. The remainder of the shelter body is made of 150D polyesters (also reasonably heavy duty) with a PU 2000 mm waterproof rating. The CAMPROS screen house weighs 22 pounds, which is middle of the road compared to other shelters for camping. The one thing I’ll note is that this tent doesn’t hold up as well for continuous use, but frankly, none of these screen tents are designed to be permanent fixtures in your yard.

Double layered thick fabric, named by Coleman as Poly Guard fabric, is used for the roof and parts of the body. This thickness ensures that it is water resistant, meaning it won’t withstand moderate or heavy rain, but it will resist light precipitation. One of the most standout aspects about this model is that you can change it from a traditional canopy to a modern screenhouse in minutes.

An open vestibule with an attached floor means while you may be dry inside your tent, all your gear will be taking a bath. The tent does have great ventilation, with most of the back and about half of the top being full mesh. When the rainfly is on and the side windows unzipped, you can still see outside, a nice feature and added reason to keep the fly on at all times. It comes with one wind panel is about the same size as the clam and almost have the price. It’s not a great option for withstanding rain, but is solid in windy conditions and would probably be fine in light rain.

That makes it super easy to carry, regardless of where you’re going. The mesh walls means that they can often let water in and offer little in the way of water resistance. The wall design of the Alvantor screenhouse improves its performance in wind. Most other screenhouses come with vertical walls which are vulnerable to catching in the wind. However, the curved walls in this screenhouse is a better shape for wind resistance.

It has a waterproofing rating of PU (polyurethane) 3000 mm (the minimum needed to be considered waterproof is 1000 mm). The Wenzel Magnetic Screen House is a lightweight and large screen shelter with two magnetic doors. One thing I also like about this screen house is the wheeled carrying bag (which helps relieve the high weight). The roof material also has a 50 UPF sun protection rating, making it a good respite from the hot sun as well.
