I have included this tent in my list of extra large family camping tents. Having a separate rain fly for a 2- or 3- person tent makes sense because ozark trail canopy multiple people can split up the weight a little easier on longer hikes. With a 1-person tent, that doesn’t really make as much sense.
My kids got older and we were not getting out camping as often anymore, so I gave it away to another family to use to create memories with. It was still in great condition and had lots of use left in it. I was super happy with the tent, especially for what we paid for it.
Overall, it could have been roomier, but the weight savings were attractive to me with only one spar instead of two. Furthermore, I didn’t plan on being in the tent other than during the nights, so a roomier but heavier 1-person tent wasn’t desirable. The weather was going to be great and the hammock was where I wanted to be during the restful moments of the day. Some 1-person tents will have two major spars or spines that cross for the main support structure. In the ozark trail tent, it has only one spar traveling down the center lengthwise with a single rib to open up the area in the middle.
However, the roomy and airy interiors don’t make it the best choice for chilly winters. It gets hard to trap heat in the well-ventilated interiors. With the frame structure pre-attached to the tent, all you need to do is open it and extend the legs. Even inexperienced users were able to set it up within 5 minutes. Well, this tent comes with specially designed dark materials and panels that block sunlight from entering the interiors.
All in all, this is a tent that offers solid value for newbie backpackers. In terms of design and floor area, it surely stands out from the crowd. Tall campers above 6 feet found it extremely comfortable. Users also liked the ozark trail chair fact all the rooms have separate entrances. There are statements about 5 queen size beds used in this tent, and I do not think this is a serious statement. You can use them two for sure in the two side rooms and this is it.
