In overall is great, but the poles broke after some uses, in less than a year. I take it everywhere, and I’m able to set it up by myself. The poles I think are a bit fragile though so I am extra careful when setting up no to put too much stress on them after setting up however they hold out quite well even with very strong breeze. We found out in the morning from a ranger who had came to check on us, that during the night the ridge we camped on took winds up to 65 mph during the night, and tent did not sustain any damage from the winds. The canopy is easy to take down; simply follow the directions in reverse.
I’ve had great luck with the Ozark chairs, sleeping pads, and other basic camping items. These products are overpriced at name brand stores like REI. The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days.
I do like the tent, lots of space, easy to put up, but a couple of things I didn’t like, the front door zippers always get stuck on the little rain flap that covers the zipper. I sprayed the tent with camp dry because I knew it was going to rain the next day. Some rain did get in near the bottom of rear window. I had a Coleman tent in the past and payed twice the money and this tent is just as good as that one. I would love to have a tent with sturdy metal poles, but nobody seems to make a reasonably priced tent with sturdy poles any more. I don’t like D-shaped zippers because they don’t seem to last long term.
Oddly enough, Ozark Trail’s most basic, base bones shelter takes the title of most durable. When you’re looking at what you want in a tent, consider how many people are going to be using it.
All these windows are pretty small, which limits ventilation on a hot day. And on top of that, all these windows need to be closed on a rainy day. This shelter may be the least expensive in our roundup, but it still packs some sweet features worth noting. Our favorite is the “storage locker” which gives you a protected place to store items like muddy shoes outside the tent, but can also be accessed from inside using a second zipper. It’s a great spot to stash your “middle of the night bathroom break” shoes and anything else you don’t want taking up space inside the tent.
This would be great for anyone that plans to sit down in the shelter. The one exception to the rule here is for the larger cabin-style tents, especially those with an “instant tent” design that uses pre-attached poles. ozark trail screen house These shelters tend to be much heavier and bulkier when packed up due to the frame design, so you’ll want to make sure you’ve got room to transport them in your vehicle and store them in your home before buying.
However, my Ozark Trail Tent’s fabric started getting pretty soaked after just that 15 minutes of mostly light to moderate rain. Very tall in the middle allowing me at 6 feet 3 inches tall and 260 pounds to finally be able to stand all the way up and not feel crowded in a tent. The closets seemed pointless when we bought it but have turned out to be a huge help. It lets you keep everything off the floor and out of your way so middle-of-the-night trips out of the tent do not include tripping over anything. The square sides mean that the entirety of the floor space is fully usable, unlike more common dome tents.
