It’s a much better learning curve for the novice, because afterward, whether the bike is replaced with a 2× or a 1×, you’ll be able to master it more quickly. Due to being disc brake only, the bridge between the seatstays could be removed. This further increases mud clearance and also adds to the frame’s compliance, providing better control. Definitely not a versatile bike; genesis bike this is designed with only CX racing in mind and makes no compromises – except for, perhaps, its two sets of bottle bosses. There aren’t mounting points for front or rear pannier racks; strap on bike-packing bags are the weapon of choice here. Some practically remains, with downtube bottle bosses (useful for holding extra water or a tool keg) and discrete mudguard mounts.
The V2100 is designed for moderate to intermediate trails and handles the bumps pretty well. That being said, it’s better to stick to trails with less gravel; you should switch out the tires if you plan on tackling trails with really gravelly surfaces. And while this bike is rugged, we wouldn’t want to perform more advanced riding, like slickrocking.

We’d have preferred disc brakes on both wheels, but that would have just pushed the price up. A wide variety of models is offered by the English brand, to reach all types of users. If the pride of the brand lies in its excellent touring models, road enthusiasts will find their happiness in a quality catalog at affordable prices. There are, however, a number of points that make this a more versatile bike than the carbon alternative.

Despite this, its machines tend to evolve rather than needlessly reinvent themselves. Genesis’s latest 2021 range seeks to build on this tendency, with most of the brand’s compact offering simply tweaked to make them more user-friendly. While many people will pretend to have liked something before it was cool, in the case of British brand Genesis, we’ll reserve our usual incredulity.

It’s the ultimate all-round all-terrain machine, with a hardy steel frameset, disc brakes, relaxed geometry and mounts for all the additional fittings you might need. The Croix de Fer comes in three steel options (10, 20 and 30) as genesis mountain bike well as a titanium model. Almost the antithesis of the Day One, the Flyer is sublime in its simplicity. It employs easily adjustable rim brakes, a single 42×17 gear, and it has mudguards to keep the spray off. Although the frame is steel, it’s relatively lightweight with a carbon fork and no excess components weighing it down.
