This long and daunting par 5 plays all uphill, but the generous fairway gives you plenty of room to navigate your way towards the green. On your approach shot, a well-positioned bunker protects the right side of the green. The 8th is a par 5 with multiple ozark trail backpack fairway bunkers both left and right. Keep your tee shot left and safely away from the trees on the right to give yourself a clear shot at the green. The long and narrow green angles back from left to right with a high mound on the back part of the green.

The wide fairway offers plenty of room for a safe layup shot and easy short iron or wedge into the green. At 35 liters, this pack is perfect for day trips or for hikers who don’t need to carry a lot of gear on the trails. Also a good choice for youngsters who are new to hiking, or who need a rugged pack for toting school items. The 14th is a par 4 with fairway bunkers in play along the right side.

If you have a boat and bring kids or friends on the water, you know that once you leave the dock the requests for drinks start rolling in fast and furious. Sure, you can load a cooler out each morning packed with fresh ice, but it is just so much easier to cut down all that work with a cooler than can keep ice for days on end. The next section along Trace Creek is an enjoyable, quiet walk in the woods. Some hikers may choose to continue on Trace Creek to the Taum Sauk section, but OT thru-hikers should head west onto Middle Fork/John Roth Memorial section to complete the longer route. This hilly 26-mile segment gains over 2,600 feet of elevation over a contoured landscape crossing brooks, streams, and wetlands, as well as small savannahs of oak and hickory hardwoods.

We like to go on day hikes around our area and my other backpacks are much bulkier and heavier than this one. We live close to Zion National Park and it gets very hot during the day, so you want to make sure to always have water with you. Whether you’re getting ready to head out hiking, going shopping, or traveling, this backpack is up to the job!

A common one for me is using them to fix a tag to an antler or leg. They can also be used to hold limbs together in a hunting setup or for small gear repairs. Keeping a handful in a sandwich bag in your pack is a good idea. They also take up very little space and are virtually weightless. A brute on the scorecard, but this long par 3 plays drastically downhill.

Similar to the Ozark Trail cooler, the Pelican features orange wheel rims and also has orange clasp accents. You can get this cooler in three colors, Tan which is featured here, as well as graphite and white. The other two colors will have different rims and accents, so if you don’t love the orange you have options.

Camp at Highway DD trailhead near the section’s start or Harper Spring around the 15 mile-mark. This hydration compatible backpack has a connection for a water bladder built in to the design. It also includes loops to hang your trekking poles when ozark trail chair not in use. We like that this pack has a lot of pockets including a zipper that allows you to access the middle of the pack without opening the top. Includes Trekking pole attachment points, compression straps and a sleeping bag compartment.
