For the end-door variants, one has to toss their sleeping bag down the tent when getting ready for bed. Other items that you may want to keep at the foot of the sleeping area are also hard to access or reach if your head is near the door. For these styles, it seems most people want their head at the door side and so they have a constraint for which way the tent is set up if the ground is not flat. On the other hand, accessing the tent from the middle, or on the long side, gives one more degree of freedom.

I like my tents to have a denier over 100, but for light/moderate use, something around 50 works well too. When you’re looking at what you want in a tent, consider how many people are going to be using it. Is it for a large family or just used short camping trips? If you’re going to use air mattresses, be sure it fits your size of mattress (most tents can fit a queen size air mattress). I also rain tested my Coleman Sundome Tents, and I have the regular 6-person version, the 6-Person Dark Room version, and also the Elite 6-Person version. All these tents were able to stay dry for about 30 to 35 minutes of heavy pouring rain.

The front door runs nearly the tent’s entire height, and an additional bug net door mirrors it exactly.
