I smoked Captain Black Regular (white package), Captain Black Gold (gold package) and Captain Black Royal (dark blue package). The other two versions that I didn’t smoke are Captain Black Light (light blue package) and Captain Black Cherry (red package). You usually top-o-matic cigarette machine find Captain Black at various chain stores that sell pipe tobacco such as CVS Drug Stores, Walmart and other chains. Don’t let the chosen distribution chain for Captain Black fool you. It is just as good, and even better than some specialty tinned pipe tobaccos.
These three Captain Black offerings, the Original, Gold, and Cherry all have lovely flavor but are primed to give a smoker, lubber or rated able, a fair challenge to smoke without numerous relights and a burnt tongue. This tastes like the cherry lip gloss my older sister would buy and I would try to eat like candy. Sugar water with a cherry flavored cough drop stirred in. About the halfway point the cherry flavor has faded to just a tickle, but it’s very sweet now.
