We contemplated installing the software that came on the CD, but our extensive printing experience has taught us that you can’t always enter custom paper sizes without installing the latest print driver. What if the drivers found on the CD were older than what we could find on Epson’s web site? So instead of installing the software epson photo printer provided on the CD, we went to Epson’s Drivers & Support page, finding the appropriate section for each operating system. We opted for the lighter software versions over the all inclusive “Drivers and Utilities Combo Package” because we never use the extra software that seems to clog up our systems when installing a new printer.

The Canon iX700 is a wide format printer that can be had for a great price, and while it often bested the less expensive Epson Artisan 50, the differences were smaller when printing on textured paper. The Epson arguably yielded better results when we tested premium, heavyweight card stock. Wide-format inkjet printing offers unmatched resolution, color accuracy, archival properties, and larger media sizes. Inkjet printing is used for high-quality posters, photography, oversize book covers, or anything else where the highest quality or largest print sizes are needed. Inkjet printers are used for low-volume quantity print runs since they can get expensive. Printers in the first set are aimed at small offices that need somewhat heavier-duty printing than the WorkForce WF models offer, or features like being able to print or scan a larger page size.
It’s quiet and smooth, though, with excellent quality prints. We found black text satisfyingly bold and dark, while colors were full and bright, with no banding or blocking on the page. Its design is sleek, with a small footprint roughly A3 in size, and only 16cm tall, making it much easier to accommodate epson inkjet printers than other A3 printers we’ve tested.
