The grill comes to temperature quickly, but there is some variation in hot spots, especially towards the outside edges of the grill, which charred more than the center, where foods cooked slower. Two separate burners allow for multiple types of cooking (like searing and indirect heat), as with a standard-size grill. It gets hot and has, as one tester noted, “highly responsible” temperature control. In our weber portable gas grill tests, it produced “nice golden-brown” steak with “defined grill marks” and a “good crust.” During one test, even a delicate fish filet did not stick to the grates. No grilling experience is complete without the necessary Weber grilling tools and accessories to get the job done. If you do not already have tools and accessories from your Weber charcoal grill or gas grill, load up to tackle any BBQ job.
We appreciate the stable tripod base, which keeps the grill steady on uneven ground. And we give the Jumbo Joe points for having an ash catcher, even though it’s just a flimsy aluminum pan. But at least there’s a barrier to keep hot embers from weber portable grill falling on the grass or your deck. And since the spacious firebox fits a full chimney starter’s worth of coals, you can get two or three rounds of grilling per load. Be sure to clean your grill thoroughly to keep it working as long as possible.
This grill is refreshingly easy to light, with an indicator button on the knob. I highly recommend cooking cheeseburgers on this grill by the way. Since the grates have areas that are solid, excess cheese can sit on there and form a delicious crust as it melts, giving flat iron and charred flavors at the same time. Those items included the main body of the grill, 2 cooking racks, 2 wheels with installation hardware, and a grease pan with an aluminum liner.
The firebox pops out for easy emptying, but the handle bolts make removing it without tipping a little difficult. The grill has no lid for cooking, as the top consists of a storage compartment and cutting board. As such, you’re grilling with direct heat and should keep that in mind when meal planning.

I leave it set up and roll it into my garage when not in use to keep the bugs and critters out. I have an accessory hose to hook up to a standard propane tank vs. using the small cylinders that screw directly onto the grill, and have been amazed at how little gas it uses. Easy to clean; the porcelain-coated grates lift right out, and the burner area can be thoroughly cleaned without removing the burner. I bought an accessory griddle that replaces one of the two grates, which makes it a snap to cook eggs, pancakes, and other stuff when you don’t want dripping into the burner.
