Weber is highly regarded for well thought out engineering, quality materials, finish, dependability and ease of use. This Weber grill delivers and surpasses all of my expectations from my hours of reading reviews and watching videos. I spent the extra money for the Stealth model and I am happy I did.
I liked that the Traveler has a removable disposable grease trap (sold in a set of 10) to make cleanup less of a burden. The grill, which only took me 7 minutes to assemble, is appealing to car campers, tailgaters, parkgoers, condo owners, and apartment dwellers alike. It ignites instantly and offers grillers a generously spacious 320 square inches of cooking space — enough for 15 burgers. Plus, there are three hooks for your tools, a built-in thermometer, and a convenient side table for holding your food before and after you grill it. This low-flow system is perfect for on-board appliances, but the pressure is too low to sufficiently fuel a grill and maintain the heat necessary for cooking. While your Airstream features an external LP port, the low-flow pressure required grillmasters to buy a separate converter in order to sear the perfect steaks and cook great burgers.
We rated the grills on ease of cleaning, including dumping any ash and unused charcoal for applicable models. After rating the grills’ overall performances in these areas, we looked at those scores and weighed them against their retail prices. Rating each area on a scale of one to five, we averaged the category scores to arrive at the final score for each grill. Cleanup was simple, and as the grill comes with no specific cleaning instructions, dumping the spent ash was a simple task. We followed this with a quick wipe-down with soapy water to remove remnants.
The firebox pops out for easy emptying, but the handle bolts make removing it without tipping a little difficult. The grill has no lid for cooking, as the weber portable grill top consists of a storage compartment and cutting board. As such, you’re grilling with direct heat and should keep that in mind when meal planning.
The hottest I ever got the grill was around 500°F which took about 7 minutes. Cleaning the grill and the grates is painless, but having the grates seasoned properly is key to preventing all that grease and gunk from sticking to them.
