To turn on the bike, you need to first hit a button underneath the battery, then another on the LED display. The battery’s on button isn’t in a highly visible place but is slightly raised so you can find it by touch. There is an old 8-mile Championship Course nearby that was abandoned several years ago. Reviews claim this trail is the most wild and raw ride in the area due to extremely steep ascents and descents, boggy mud, sharp switchbacks, and dangerous washouts. We wisely dismounted on the steepest uphills and also walked one suicidal downhill. Besides my one crash in a deep washout, we survived the worst trail in the area and had a blast.
The price means that it lacks some of the advanced features of many electric models, and even more basic ones like quick release, but it looks great and rides well. On my test ride, I chose a 5-mile path that alternated between asphalt and gravel. On the gravelly bits, the ebike performed well, kicking in enough power to keep the momentum going on the climbs and cutting off on the downhills.
I have a Truckrun motor on my daily rider city e-bike, and it works wonderfully. In the case of Kent’s mid-drive electric bike, seen above, it’s not clear exactly which 250W motor kent bikes is used. Nicer (i.e., more expensive) e-bikes tend to use fancier mid-drive motors like those made by Brose, Bosch, Yamaha, and other major German or Japanese manufacturers.

Mid-drive motors, unlike hub motors, actually power the bike through the standard gears on a bicycle. Hub motors, on the other hand, are single-speed drivetrains that bypass the gears and chain altogether, allowing them to be controlled quite simply as there are no gears to worry about.
Reviews often mentioned bad batteries, broken bike parts, or other annoying setbacks, and having a 90-day return policy was extremely important for peace of mind. Second, at $500 and with free shipping, these bikes are about half the price of other brands. I bought two ebikes on Walmart even though I couldn’t find a single review that kent bikes wasn’t paid or sponsored, and I don’t trust those as honest reviews. These bikes are obviously made in China and are generic. You can easily find several other brands of bikes with the identical design. They can be toggled to either flash or constant lighting of red or white LEDs and they come with a little rubber mounting strap.
