I would use this printer for occasionally printing, scanning or copying documents at my home office, but want to also start dabbling in printing my own photos. The LowePro PhotoSport Outdoor is a camera pack for photographers who also need a well-designed daypack for hiking and other outdoor use. If that sounds like you, the PhotoSport Outdoor may be a great choice, but as with any hybrid product, there are a few tradeoffs. Epson don’t supply profiles beyond a few defaults – my suspicion is that my work (and others!) contributed to the 8550 being seen as a far more capable printer than some areas of Epson marketing had initially positioned it. When shopping for a laser printer, you must consider whether you really need color printing or can make do with monochrome. Photo printers turn the question on its head, making you ask whether you want to print any black-and-white images, which many printers can’t handle particularly well. Note that while I find the office paper tray useful, as well as the automatic duplex printing on office paper, it is not the fastest printer on earth. I would not recommend this printer if the main use is office works and only occasionally printing photos. There is one exception, if you need to print A3 drawings on office paper then it is also a good choice. I print a whole lot of electronic schematics also, and it is really nice to be able to print those in A3 colour.
