Although it’s possible to make matless cuts using vinyl roll, Brother Scan and Cut 2 can’t create very long designs, unlike rivals Cricut Maker 3 or Silhouette Cameo 4. If you want to get the best scanning results when using Brother Scan and Cut 2, make sure the design and background are in contrast. It includes the new rotary blade for fabric which looks fantastic for those interested in cutting fabric. I purchased the SDX2200D in early 2020 and have enjoyed using it so much. It is a great little machine and I certainly have no regrets. While I have retained my CM900 and use brother scan and cut it when I am doing a lot of cutting (loved this machine), I find that I head to the SDX2200D as my first choice these days. Scan N Cut machines are great fun and while you think you are only going to be making “X”… you will find you end up making so much more than you planned.
For some reason, I had the best results with the medium-weight cardstock. Since posting about the Artspira app last week more information has popped up, including a surprise “new” Scan N Cut model to sit alongside last year’s US release. I have not really mentioned the SDX125 series which is also on the site. The SDX1200 models were plagued with problems when they were first released .. I am not confident that these are models that I would choose and so I have left them out.

However, some artisans had luck when experimenting with this material, such as wood veneer. But you’re on your own here since it’s a trial-and-error process, and you risk dulling the blade or even damaging the machine.
