Igloos Trailmate Expands Into a Hardside Cooler Series Outdoor Retailer’s The Daily

Igloo Coolers have always been known for their attractive price points. While they typically won’t have the level of performance of higher ends brands like Yeti, RTIC, Orca, etc., they have always struck a happy balance between cost and usability. So more realistically, aim for around 2 ½ to 3 days of ice if you fill it up 1/3 to ½ way. The wheels, which are essential to the operation of these coolers, are made of tough plastic so you don’t have to worry about them popping.

Today, Igloo revealed the brand-new, expanded Trailmate Series of high-performance hardside coolers at Outdoor Retailer Summer trade show. The all-new series — featuring the Trailmate 25 Qt Cooler and Trailmate 50 Qt Cooler — is available now at igloocoolers.com/trailmate. First, you have the butler tray that is built into the inside of the lid. Second, there is a removable dry storage box on the front of the cooler so you can and keep the phone/keys in there without fear of water or sand damaging then.

Igloo designed the new Trailmate Series of hardside coolers with a focus on durability and better performance. The Igloo Trailmate, due to its many additional features, large size, and decent ice life, does fetch a higher asking price than most other Igloo products. For those on a tight budget or for someone who doesn’t care about the extra mobility features, there are cheaper options out there that will perform just as well (if not better) in terms of ice life. But for someone who is after a truly unique, mobile, and well-performing ice chest, the asking price is more than fair. We believe in offering the very best value, quality, and selection.

The entire Trailmate Series can be found at igloocoolers.com/trailmate. Finally, one of the most important aspects is the mobility of this cooler. The easy glide handle feels solid and smooth when extending.

And to provide additional support, there are a couple of aluminum stands (with equally aggressive grip) on the front of the cooler. These provide additional stability when the cooler is laid flat. The no-slip grip combined with the aggressive tire tread means that you can place this cooler on uneven surfaces and slopes without worrying about it falling over or rolling away. With camping and BBQ season now on our doorsteps, to time to get back into nature is now so it’s also the perfect time to invest in a new cooler for the occasion.

The threaded drain plug is garden-hose compatible and features a non-slip, easy-grip tethered cap to eliminate the possibility of a small leak. The removable butler tray placed on the telescoping handle provides the perfect space for serving food and drinks. When not in use, the butler tray can be stored away under the lid. Two built-in stainless steel bottle openers help you quickly and easily enjoy your bottled beverages. A dedicated slot in the lid holds your mobile device upright for easy viewing and access.

Igloo states that their Trailmate Line has up to 4 days of ice retention. Compared to premium rotomolded coolers with huge gaskets and aggressive igloo soft cooler latches, 4 days would not be anything amazing. For most people, having enough ice to last for a long weekend is more than enough.

For example, the Yeti 75 is nearly $200 more expensive and does not have wheels nor the added features as outlined above. It goes without saying that the Trailmate is the perfect beach, tailgating or surf fishing cooler capable of handling rugged terrain at a reasonable price. A cooler that boasts a ton of features and is ready to tackle the trail. This cooler has been out a few years and we finally got our hands on one to put to the Tailgating Challenge. The Trailmate cooler claims to keep ice for 4 days and go anywhere with it’s 10 inch all-terrain wheels. We are on the quest to find the best coolers for whatever adventure life gives you, so now let’s learn more in the Igloo Trailmate Cooler Review.
