The Coleman Camp Propane Grill lasts up to 2 hours on high with one 16.4-ounce propane cylinder (sold separately). The Coleman gas grill sports an extremely impressive 285 square inches of cooking area. The one drawback is that it is not a charcoal grill, which means you are stuck with having to purchase propane tanks. The Coleman Roadtrip 285 may share the appearance of many wheeled portable grills, but it excels in cooking performance.
Between the 15-minute and 20-minute intervals, its temperature only varied by five degrees, settling in at a maximum of 696°F. From our culinary experience, we know that the best temperatures for searing range from 300 to 500 degrees, depending on the cut of meat or vegetable of choice. So this grill’s heating capabilities are well beyond the needs of most backyard chefs. They include a griddle or flat plate and a traditional grilling grate. The other great improvement is the non-stick removable grease tray. The tray covers the entire area under the grill plates.
The grease trap is handy, too, especially when you are cooking bunches of frozen burgers. It boils water just a little slower coleman grill than the Coleman PerfectFlow 2-Burner. Not a slow-poke by any means, just not nearly as fast as the top-scoring stoves.
With mix and match plates, your options are endless. Coleman created a product that took the best of portability and cooking ability and merged it into one fantastic grill that can go nearly everywhere. Even with the smaller price tag, it still has all of the best features coleman grill that other grills in this line share. This stove is relatively easy to clean but we highly recommend lining the under the grill area with tinfoil. It is a little harder to attach the regulator than on other stoves (much easier on Coleman PerfectFlow, for example).
Also, the lid does not close all the way so it’s harder to melt cheese on a burger. All that is needed is putting the wheels on the stand and sliding the handle in place. There is a downside, and it is that the lid clearance is not very high. This will limit some of your choices as it will not handle large items that need the lid down to cook, such as whole chickens or larger roasts. I’m not sure many people wouldn’t consider using it that way anyway.
It takes less than a minute to erect the stand from a folded unit to its cooking position. It takes one minute more to connect the regulator to the LP bottle and attach it to the back of the grill.
