Mongoose Fat Tire Bike Tire, Mountain Bike Accessory

Taking the Argus out was a different experience than the norm and we both had fun. Mongoose has given the “go-ahead” to do a long term review to assess the handling and function of the Argus once winter comes. So if you’re curious about how the bike performs in the snow, stay tuned….. Additional costs may apply depending on location. They are not hydraulic and even I could feel that when testing myself. The job is getting done but there is more arm pump and fatigue when wrestling more weight with a lower grade brake system. Mongoose utilizes house branded parts to cover contact points like the grips, pedals and seat. The stem and handlebar are also branded as Xposure components. If you were wanting to replace the rigid fork with a suspension fork, then you would probably be hard pressed to find a fat fork that would fit. The bike has a 1 1/8th straight headtube.

That is the seat I bought to replace the stock torture device. The new seat is about 13.5″ inches wide and the horn is a lot shorter. It is a lot more comfortable. As far as I can tell, the Malus and Dolomite are essentially the same bike, just with different rims and colors. I have been looking at high rise handlebars or bar risers to help with the riding position. He did a good video recently on some more budget parts (including hydraulic disc brakes) as well as he has been playing with a Walmart MTB recently.

Very few bike companies build 24-inch fat bikes. I don’t know of many that go smaller from there either. Really, this frame is most likely a back up bike for a family of enthusiasts that want their child to join the fat biking they do in the winter.

Plus, it has the mechanical brakes that make it safe to stop quickly and on slippery or uneven surfaces. Although advertised as a men’s bike, a lot of customers seem to buy this one for their nephews, grandkids, and other youngsters. This affordable fat bike can be a wonderful gift or to help out anyone who is looking to learn how to ride.

With that said, it was fun seeing my son experience something truly different on the dirt. There aren’t many kids fat bikes on the market, and generally this is for good reason. Fat bikes are heavy and not ideal for every day riding.

There is a low level shimano hydraulic disc brake kit that is SO NICE compared to the cable disc brakes. I have a 7 speed Shimano thumb shifter and aluminum mountain bike pedals on the way. The stock brakes kinda suck too so I was thinking about upgrading to Shimano hydraulic brakes in the future.

To be honest, I don’t think my son has ever used a front derailleur until now. One-by systems have all but taken over the mountain bike market. One of the main components of any bike is the drive mongoose fat tire bike train. The Argus’ drive train uses a 2×8 system with a Microshift derailleur in the front and a Shimano Tourney in the rear. Most mountain bike steerer tubes are designed for tapered headtubes.
