The Ozark does need those pegs in the ground to be self-standing so setting up on rocks would be infeasible (at least without applying some clever tenting skills). In the following ozark trail backpack paragraphs I share just a few design features that, in my opinion, make this a well-designed product. Temperatures can swing from chilly mornings to sweltering afternoons.

It features two main compartments for maximum storage and organization, as well as a shove pocket with a clean, gusseted design for carrying extra items. Also included are side profile daisy chains for carrying items externally. This pack was also designed for maximum comfort. It is made with a low-profile adjustable sternum strap to help you get the perfect fit and air-mesh padded shoulder straps and back panel for comfortable carrying without a frame.

The set-up was understandably a few steps shorter, which is always nice when setting up in the dark. More than once in the dark I’ve attached a rain fly upside down and we had to restart that particular step. This tent was close to foolproof when it came to the rain fly because it was already connected. We recommend these ozark trail canopy products based on an intensive research process that’s designed to cut through the noise and find the top products in this space. Guided by experts, we spend hours looking into the factors that matter, to bring you these selections. Not the best choice for long trips or hikers who need to carry a large amount of gear.

There are no compression straps or other means of securing anything to the outside of the pack, aside from the “daisy chain” on the front. My only knock on it would be the lack of a small water bottle pocket. Of course it has no side water holsters, or lid pocket, or hipbelt strap, but I think that all contributes to its low weight. For the water bottles I just use Platypus .5 liter and 1 liter flat style bottles, which you can fit in the main body of the pack on top of your other gear.

Choose this pack if you prefer a smaller yet spacious design, as it has useful features and the durability of larger options. Because it’s basically a single compartment stuff bag, I did have to make sure the items inside were distributed properly. I have used the hydration compartment for items like my iPad. I am a 6-foot tall male, weighing 185 lbs and it fits just as well as other day packs I’ve tried. All told, I’ve had the pack on my back for about 50 miles.

If it doesn’t suit my needs, one of my daughters would be able to use it. Get your questions about the Ozark Trail 10L Backpacking Daypack answered from our team and the Pro Community right here on the page. Plus, join discussions with other members about gear, guides, and more.
