BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus Turbo, Turbo Rewind Review

It requires ongoing maintenance and the recurring costs can also add up, depending on your usage. The following vacuum cleaner tests are designed to show how the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser upright vacuum performs on different surfaces, picking up a variety of debris types. Because many of Bissell’s vacuums do so many things well, this is one of those dual “best” categories. The Bissell SpinWave R5 Robotic Mop & Vacuum is our choice for the best Bissell robot vacuum, but also our choice for the best Bissell vacuum for hardwood floors. It vacuums and mops at the same time, using an edge brush to pick up debris against baseboards.

You can also use it in a semi-handheld configuration, which is nice if you want to reach into crevices. While the Hoover is better on bare floors, the BISSELL can pick up more debris and pet hair, especially on high pile carpet. However, the Hoover has easier maintenance needs with less recurring costs. The BISSELL CleanView is a much better upright vacuum for cleaning pet hair than the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo.

The reason is that they scatter debris, which is the opposite of what you want when you’re vacuuming. In some regards, at least, hard floors proved to be a challenge for nearly all of the vacuums we tested. The Bissell was not exempt from this, and yet it performed well in surprising ways. Bissell recommends disabling the rollerbrush for hard-floor vacuuming.

Also, the machine-washable mop pads provide a powerful, yet gentle cleaning on hardwood floors. The dependable vacuum cleaner is corded, but the generous 30-foot cord covers a long distance. The brush roll resists tangling hair, and turns on or off, depending on the flooring, like tile floors. With the quick-release bissell pet vacuum extension wand, it’s easy to also clean vertically (ceiling fans and AC vents, along with those pesky cobwebs on the ceiling). It can even loosen pet hair (and human hair) that clings stubbornly to carpet. Just empty the dirt tank with one button press, and you can get back to vacuuming the rest of your home.

Originally, I expected the Dyson vacuums to outperform the pack by large swaths. I have since come to see Dyson vacuums as status symbols more than anything. They perform well, certainly, but they cost an arm and a leg and with the exception of pet hair on hard floors, the only Dyson to outperform the Bissell was the $649.99 DC41 Animal Complete. For far less, this Bissell vacuum consistently tested as one of the best.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo doesn’t have any automation features. There are a lot of pieces you need to remove to access different parts of the vacuum. There  are a few variants of the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo, though they differ bissell vacuum cleaner mainly in terms of included attachments. Given the price, I do believe the vacuum should perform a bit better in certain areas. Bear in mind, these costs are based on Bissell’s recommendation of replacing the filter every three months.

We finally got around to buying one and got to work answering the two questions that were front of mind. First, was the CleanView Swivel Pet’s ultra-low price the only reason this upright is so popular, or does it hold its own against other upright vacuums we have tested? Second, we wanted to see if there were any obvious problems with it and who, if anyone, should consider buying one. Thanks to swivel steering, the vacuum is a breeze to navigate around furniture and corners.

Anything that requires more than 20 minutes of continuous cleaning I save for my upright vacuum. Eureka and BISSELL vacuums occupy a similar budget-friendly niche, and offerings from each brand tend to have strengths. BISSELLs usually have a wider array of convenience features when comparing like-for-like models, while Eurekas offer superior debris pickup performance.

It also has a 27-foot cord that provides plenty of reach as you clean. There’s also a suction blockage indicator which we haven’t seen before but really like. It’s one of the more useful features that could be included on an upright vacuum. When you see the bissell crosswave cordless indicator change color from green to red, you can clean the filters or clear the blockage. Where suction is concerned, one small feature that is a big deal is the small squeegee that Bissell added on the bottom of the vacuum, just after the brushroll.

Just keep in mind that this model is corded and doesn’t feature automatic cord rewind. Whether you’ve got a perpetually shedding husky or a short-hair breed, this powerful, feature-packed upright vacuum for pet owners will help keep your floors fur-free. The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has an only acceptable build quality. It’s made from mostly hard plastic, except for its metal wand, but it could feel more sturdy, especially compared to some other BISSELL vacuums like the BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro.
