Peterson pipes, made in Ireland, provide the pipe smoker with a wide selection of briars. According to many smokers, Peterson pipes are some of the best tobacco pipes because of the Peterson System and Peterson mouthpiece, which give the smoker a cool, dry, and comfortable smoking experience. Today, more than 150 years later, our patented System pipes and Classic designs can be found in brick and mortar and online retailer shops across the globe. We’ve seen enormous change in our century-and-a-half of pipemaking.

I sanded with 1800 grit micromesh and further defined the edges and blended the patches into the stem surface (Photos 50 – 51). Peterson’s Aran series pipes are one of their most classic lines. Using well-aged briar, these pipes have a smooth finish, with a rich, brown, contrast staining.

Having had the opportunity to see the pipe ‘in the flesh’, I am amazed at the quality, feel, looks and the smoking performance. Normally with the newer unsmoked high grades that come into my collection, they remain un smoked. However I made an exception with this beauty and boy it was worth it.

The Peterson brand was embraced by politicians, business leaders, sportsmen, artists and writers. Generally when pipe smokers get together and discuss the system pipes they are divided as towhether they like or dislike them,in particular the P lip stem which has many detractors. When the pipe arrived here in Vancouver for the second stop of its restoration tour I was amazed it looked so good. I took some close up photos of the rim top and also of the stem surface. I wanted to show what an amazing job Jeff did in the cleanup of the rim top.
