It is a two-stage valve that is meant to keep unwanted air from escaping – sleepers need to pull the valve out and then take out the plug in order to inflate or deflate the Coleman. Stomach sleeping on the Coleman, the mattress is not quite supportive enough and, even with the support structures inside, we can feel our hips bowing into the mattress. We did not personally have any issues with air leakage while we were testing out the Coleman. That being said, some reviews we read complained that the air mattress began to leak air after only a few weeks, so this is worth keeping in mind.
