Marshall Electric Bike eBike 7 Speed Modes

The lithium ion battery pack weighs 6 pounds and is about 15 inches long by 6 inches wide. First, after sliding it into place on the luggage rack, it is supposed to lock into place by flipping down its red handle. We found that it doesn’t lock very securely, and riding over bumpy pavement can cause it to slip so that it loses its electrical connection. This handle also doesn’t provide enough room for your fingers when you are carrying the battery pack. Second, putting that weight over the rear wheel makes the Tailwind more likely to flip over when the bike is stopped suddenly.

This is a relaxed, upright cruiser that has the ability to handle a fairly wide range of riding trails. That is not the case with this e-bike and I think it comes down to a question of power management. Even at level 3 assistance, my pedals are free spinning in 7th gear. The only time you’ll ever need to balance power output would be if you were planning on doing an entire 20 miles without charging. For commuters and people who run errands, that’s not always going to be the case.

But of course half the fun of riding a bike is using your own power for propulsion (or at least sharing the load). So I usually found myself keeping it in the second or third pedal assist level out of five total levels. There’s nothing overly fancy about it, though I’d say the fact that it comes with built-in fenders schwinn electric bike and a rear rack is a nice feature. Another consideration to keep in mind when choosing an e-bike (or any bike for that matter) is your height. Schwinn has electric bikes that fit riders from 4’8″ all the way up to those who are 6’4″. We can’t stress enough how critical it is to choose the right-sized bike.

The front suspension fork pairs nicely with the seat post shock and the ergonomic grips, swept back handlebars and adjustable stem keep your hands and arms comfortable. Even though this bike uses a relatively weak motor, it rides well and keeps the overall weight down. It’s also very balanced because the battery pack (while high schwinn road bike up) is in the back and the motor is in the front. All that, plus the six-pound Toshiba battery housed behind the seat, makes the bike quite heavy, and, in some ways, a bit clunky feeling to move around when you’re not riding it. Where an average bike weighs about 35 pounds, the Tailwind, as we mentioned, weighs 58 pounds.

After we receive it, we will send you a 100% tested Refilled Higher Capacity Battery Pack to you. One of our specialties is being able to replace and repair e-bike batteries that are no longer supported by their manufacturer. We’ve had many Schwinn Tailwind batteries come through the shop and we rebuild them as 24 V 14 Ah batteries using fresh lithium ion cells to get it running like new again. The Tailwind originally came out in 2009 and had about a 30 mile range with the battery. If degradation has led to an unacceptable range decrease, let us rebuild your battery so you can cover the distances you need without anxiety.

When riding with level 5 assistance my pedals were free-spinning most of the time even on the highest gear. Of course, the premier feature of this e-bike is the “e” part. This is a class 1/class 2 e-bike in that it can be a pedal-assist bike up to 20 mph or you can use a dedicated throttle lever without pedaling. You will want to check your local regulations to find out what is legal in your area.

The RPE Charger Scheme should match these colors, do not mix match the color as it could cause harm to the battery. It is recommend that you use the EMP Low current charger; if not do not exceed 7 amps of charger current or you will risk damaging the barrel connectors charging wire. The pictures you are seeing on the product page are the pictures of the exact bike you will receive if you purchase it. At Upway we truly believe in transparency and trust, so we decided to take the time to have at least 7 pictures of each bike we have in stock so that you know exactly what you are buying.

Additionally, the weight of the bike makes it pretty inconvenient to carry up and down stairs on a regular basis. But while the Schwinn EC1 isn’t a fancy cruiser, it is a comfortable and pleasurable ride. The 250 W motor doesn’t sound powerful, but when I put it in the highest assist level I don’t have to do any work. I can just lightly spin the pedals to activate the pedal sensor and the motor does all the work for me. A tough, well-balanced, affordably priced, single-speed electric bike from a well established brand, available in three frame sizes for improved fit, sporty forward-leaning geometry. No suspension elements but the fork is steel which provides some vibration dampening properties and……

In many cases, we get these bikes still-in-box from both manufacturers and bike shops as overstock. While you will typically not be eligible for manufacturer warranty for these bikes, this is how we are able to offer them at such a steep discount. On the other hand, in the time I’ve had an e-bike, I have barely touched my poor Trek bike. E-biking is very powerful and addictive, and it has ruined traditional cycling for me, and I can’t decide if that’s a good thing. So, while my doctor, my therapist, and I all unpack that, this is my full review of the Coston CE e-bike from Schwinn.
