Trail Friendly Business Spotlight: Genesis Bicycles D&L

One year on Vin Cox set off from The Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. Our bikes will take you to those places, fulfill your curiosities and make you remember why going genesis mountain bike for a ride is one of life’s most brilliant experiences. If you want a quality bike that fits you, with components that work as intended, do not expect to find it at WalMart.

Over ten years the range expanded beyond commuter bikes to include road, mountain, cyclo-cross, gravel, kids and fat bikes. Product PresentationFrom free-ride, long-travel mountain models to fun city bikes, the presentation is a key attractor on the sales floor. But more than that, there’s front and rear dynamo lights, so you never need worry about forgetting/neglecting to charge your genesis bike lights. An internally geared hub goes a long way to weather proofing the drivetrain, as do the full housed gear cables that help stop dirt degrading your shifting performance. The Datum comes with 32c tyres, which is a bit closer to the ‘road’ end of the spectrum. But there is clearance for up to 38c, so if the conditions require it, this bike is able to handle the rougher stuff.

Packaging SystemWe created a packaging system that both stood out at retail and aided in finding the right product at a glance in a crowded retail environment. Product PresentationWe developed the product graphic presentation for more than 200 unique models every year…while being on-trend, fresh and true to the brand. Not quite mainstream, yet still hugely popular, Genesis Bikes are a British brand loved by steel-aficionados and adventurers alike.

Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006. They have a program called BikesGiving where they ask customers… We ask that you return your bike to the same place it was purchased. If bought on our website, please have your order number on hand. If you think that we’ve incorrectly blocked you or you would like to discusseasier ways to get the data you want, please file a ticket here.

The aero features of more expensive bikes are present, with cables are routed internally and the leading edges of the frame are smoothly rounded. The groupset is Shimano Tiagra with a 2×10 drivetrain while the maximum tyre size is 25c. For those interested in dipping their toes into racing, or just want a sportier feeling bike, the Zeal range is Genesis’ entry level carbon option.

Capable on and off road, it was a gentle step away from our original Vapour and towards a bike that was intended to go further… but we never imagined quite how much further. At the time, we weren’t sure if people would get it, so we hedged slightly, labelling it as a cross bike in the truest sense of the word. The best riding is off the beaten track, on that road – or path – to who knows where. Its 1×9 drivetrain keeps things simple, while the swept back riser bars give the rider a more upright position. The first Genesis bike was produced under the Ridgeback brand as the Day One model in 2001.

The aluminium frame is cheaper, although the fork is still carbon. Disc brakes remain present, but they have been changed to mechanical rather than hydraulic. The drivetrain is still a performance oriented 1×11 set up and, in all, this is still a competitive racing machine. There aren’t mounting points for front or rear pannier racks; strap on bike-packing bags are the weapon of choice here. Some practically remains, with downtube bottle bosses (useful for holding extra water or a tool keg) and discrete mudguard mounts. The frame is fully carbon and the cables are integrated into the frame for a cleaner look and better aerodynamics.
