The Weber Traveler operates on a portable-sized 14.1 or 16.4 ounce propane cylinder (sold separately). This Stealth Edition Weber Traveler features a sleek, blacked-out finish. The Weber Traveler also features a built-in lid thermometer, a porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grate that conducts heat evenly across its surface, a porcelain-enameled steel body, and a built-in grill cart.
Next, the heat distribution was uneven, where a uniform layer of coals still resulted in a hot spot in the center. The Dyna-Glo scored highly for performance but was edged out for Best Value by its weight (40 pounds) and a more complicated assembly process that could require a second person to accomplish easily. Not everyone has a yard, and it’s increasingly common for apartments to ban open flame grills on balconies. The $117 wheeled stand is worth a look if you plan to transport it a lot. The middle dial controls a burner that spans the length of the whole grill, while the other two dials control an additional burner on each side. The Roadtrip 285 produced better results from our white bread heat mapping test than any other grill we’ve tested. Though the Weber Traveler does not feature a triple burner configuration, it does feature an accurate thermometer on the lid and a single adjustable dial that offers a wide range of settings. Really, the only caveat with this top-of-the-line grill is that it is heavy, weighing 49 pounds, which limits the user group to those that can lift 50 pounds.
If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day. I’ve used it four or five times last week and will be using it all weekend in this beautiful weather with a cold one.
