The most obvious thing about riding this bike is the riding position. Imagine you’re an 80 year old man. Get your pants hiked up to just below your sternum. Put on your best loafers, your town schwinn ebike cruising hat, and carefully step onto this bike. You shouldn’t ride this bike at night without some other source of lighting. Or, at least, replace the generator with a small battery pack.
Some thought was put into the idea there and I appreciated it. I understand that I’m a big guy, and I’m also about 50 pounds over the maximum advertised weight for this bike. I was probably never going to get 35 miles out of this or any other bike.
If their goal was a lot of media coverage for them and, more importantly, Toshiba, they succeeded. But if their goal schwinn ebike was to build a good bike, I think they failed. Even though I don’t like it, it’s got a major redeeming factor.
Making sure this is the case might mean visiting a local bike shop that carries it and either giving it a test ride or just seeing which size is right for your height. We recommend looking into not only a brand’s testing options but also its return policy, as you want to make sure it’s also eligible to be sent back should it not fit. Schwinn includes a battery charger with the bike, which plugs into any standard wall outlet you’d have in your home, apartment, or office. To take the battery out of the bike, use the included key to release it, then plug the charger into the battery and then into the wall.
