If part of your calculation for buying the Mongoose Switchback Expert is that you might upgrade parts over time, I say look at another bike. If you just want a bike that you’re going to ride as-is for as long as possible, the Switchback Expert could be the right choice. Pacific cycle made even more this year so anyone that wants this bike ? My rough estimate, there is around little over 6000 units sold since 2019.

When I think of the old mongoose from my childhood, I think of those huge circle gussets, odd square section, and loop tails and the dull nickel chrome finish. In all seriousness though, if my currently 8yo niece wanted a Stranger Things Mongoose, I’d happily buy her one and just swap over the dodgy looking parts for better quality parts. Haro lineage is on the right path but the price is not targeted the kids… Asking a 16yrs old to spend $2000 to buy a un-ride-able 80’s GT performer is not going to work..
