The Ozark Trail: A Guide to Hiking Missouri’s Mountains

Its snap loop for hanging was one of the easiest to use, and the towel packs down to a small size, making it easy to travel with. The biggest differentiating factor for sleeping bag selection is the location you plan to camp and, more specifically, how far you will be from motorized transportation. If your camping plans will keep you close to your car, we recommend shopping for a heavier and cozier camping sleeping bag. For human-powered adventures further afield, weight and packed size become paramount. Models that exhibit these characteristics we label as ‘backpacking’ sleeping bags. Just be aware that lighter and more compressible bags and usually more expensive.

Hitting a good drive is required to give yourself a look at the green on this long uphill par 4. The deep and narrow green is protected by bunkers on both sides with a highly positioned bailout area ozark trail canopy on the short left side. The 14th is a par 4 with fairway bunkers in play along the right side. Hitting your tee shot too far left will make for a difficult approach shot to a narrow and long green.

If packing your towel down into a tiny space isn’t a concern for you, the PackTowl Luxe is about as comfortable as a towel can get. Although it does take up a bit more room and takes significantly longer to dry, its “body” size has the same dimensions as our top pick but has a plusher feel against the skin. Unlike similar big and luxurious camp towels, it didn’t smell after being put away wet. It absorbed water off the skin without trapping in the dirt and sand, which left it surprisingly clean for a towel with such a high pile. As it was easy to shake off, we enjoyed having it as a wrap and beach blanket, too.

The Ozark Trail cooler is made from polyethylene, which is the most common kind of plastic in use today. The rotomolding process entails heating plastic pellets which coat the interior of a mold while it is spun around in a number of different directions at a very consistent pace. The mold is kept on the move during both the heating and coating phases as well as the cooling phase. The Pelican also features a different pull handle than the Yeti and Ozark coolers as well.

Consider bringing waterproof shoes and treating your clothes ahead of time with permethrin to repel insects. In the colder seasons insulating layers are a must, and a good rain shell for you and rain fly for your tent are necessary year-round. It does come with a carrying pouch, and though not as stylish or durable as the Sea to Summit Pocket Towel’s ozark trail chair silicone carrying case, it’s adequate for what it needs to do. We consider this towel a solid option for car camping and day trips, when taking up a little extra space won’t matter. Packable towels are usually made from microfiber, although a few of the ones we tested are made from other materials (which didn’t end up performing as well).

We just wouldn’t stretch using this bag too far into the shoulder season. It’s rated to 23 degrees Fahrenheit, but we would not be comfortable bringing it along if the temperatures were below freezing. It’s just a tube with few bells and whistles, but that means it’s also pretty light to carry. If size and ozark trail chair volume aren’t issues and you’re looking for something more soft and comfortable, the PackTowl Luxe performed the best of the plush cotton-like microfiber towels. Not only did it dry the quickest of these towels, it was good at removing sand from the skin and didn’t absorb dirt and mud into the fabric.

If there’s one piece of evidence to recommend this uber-rigid inflatable, it’s the number of times I’ve used it to help others. I’m not sure if that elevates ISLE’s Pro Series into a new class of “inflatable hardboards,” as Blakeney refers to them. But I can say with confidence that I never envied the hardboard kayakers during my testing.

For the water bottles I just use Platypus .5 liter and 1 liter flat style bottles, which you can fit in the main body of the pack on top of your other gear. I needed a day pack and didn’t really have lots of time to search at REI for the various styles provided having only gone to one store. This pack has no extraneous features, save for the small front zip pocket and an internal hydration sleeve. There are no compression straps or other means of securing anything to the outside of the pack, aside from the “daisy chain” on the front. My only knock on it would be the lack of a small water bottle pocket.
