Ozark Trail 4’x6′ Instant Canopy

I have set up several tents over my 50 plus years camping and this is the first time that I have ever purchased anything so rotten. I bought this tent last fall from Walmart and the first time I used it I loved it. Then when I was airing it out after camping I went outside to discover the main pole had snapped in half. It wasn’t breezy, so I figured it ozark trail chair must have been a freak accident. I still had my receipt, so I returned it to Walmart and exchanged it for a new one thinking this was just an unfortunate incident. I haven’t figured out a way to get the whole tent, rain fly, poles, etc back into the original bag together—but am sure if I worked on that and really folded it correctly it could be done.

This cooler has a number of features that you would find on more expensive coolers and a few that you won’t find. Cooler’s have become somewhat of a status symbol in the outdoors and many equate the bigger brands with better quality. A higher price tag should mean a higher quality product, right? No, that is not always the case and any outdoorsmen, gear junkie, or general abuser of products will tell you the same thing. Every so often a brand will fly under the radar producing products that are not only a great value but also great quality as well. I took my two oldest boys on a Cub Scout camping trip.

The Tungsten’s two brow poles create an especially effective awning over the tent door, so very little water gets in when someone comes or goes. Our only quibble with the Mineral King 3 is that it comes with only six stakes. (Our runner-up pick comes with eight.) Six is enough to secure the tent and fly but not to fully secure the tent’s extra lines in very windy conditions. This shouldn’t be an issue in most situations, but if you’re headed into a particularly windy place or simply want some backup, we suggest picking up four extra tent stakes at your local outdoor shop or online. These inexpensive stakes are comparable to the ones that accompany the Mineral King 3; these slightly more expensive stakes will serve you well in any car-camping terrain. Temperatures ranged from the 50s at night to the 80s during the day.

Upon closer examination of the newer tent I observed a dramatic compromise in the material and the quality of this tent, compared to my older Ozark. Thinking that the lighter fabric used was due to technological advancements, I dismissed the notion that it was an inferior tent. Well, I’m not sure what to do I’ll start looking for a used waterproof tent. Poles are reported by other reviewers to break/snap easily.
