Trailheads for popular singletrack begin right on the edge of neighborhood streets, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s extensive lift-served routes are 15 minutes from the town center. Biking is woven into the fabric of the community, through the extensive infrastructure and events like bike swaps, youth programs, and local race series. In June, a landslide closed a 10-mile stretch of the Teton Pass mountain road for three weeks, impeding the commute between Jackson and less expensive communities ozark trail canopy in Idaho.

Originally constructed in 1923 as the first federal highway project built in Oklahoma, this truss bridge consisted of ten spans over the South Canadian River. It closed to traffic in 1963 and later lost two spans during a storm in 2013. Seven additional spans were also demolished for safety reasons, and the remaining span was donated to the City of Newcastle. The old bridge can be viewed as you cross the Canadian River on I-44, or take exit 108A off I-44 southbound and turn right onto Meridian Road.
A bit heavier around 13 lbs, this packable chair has an attached table for meals around the grill or campfire. Of the original 21 obelisks, only seven remain nationwide. This particular obelisk was originally placed in downtown Stroud, but once the route picked up traffic in the late 1920s, the monument was moved off the busy street to its current location closer to Davenport.
That works for the majority of the market, but if you happen to be heavier than that, you’ll find that pickings can be slim. Despite the Renetto chair’s weight and bulk, our testers found it simple to set up and adjust. The canopy quickly and easily transforms into a carrying case—just wrap it around the chair and snap it closed with two plastic buckles, and you can carry the whole thing on your back like an oblong backpack. It can hold a lot of supplies, and it’s easy to carry and set up. The King Kong chair has two cupholders and intuitively placed storage pouches under each armrest; unlike the Coleman chair, though, this one doesn’t have a cooler pouch.
Start your journey at the Rock Creek Bridge that was put in place in 1921, became part of Route 66 in 1926 and was bypassed in 1952. This Sapulpa bridge is one of the state’s best remaining examples of the steel-truss architecture that was popular in the pre-World War II era. With a patchwork of red bricks and concrete, you can truly feel the age of this narrow bridge, which is closed to vehicles but open to foot traffic. And it avoids the slouchy shape of most traditional camping chairs, which can sag to create a hunch-and-slouch posture. Cyclists could probably live a car-free (or car-light) life, but there’s more here than just going from A to B. Road cyclists can create 25-mile-plus loops using the country roads that descend and ascend the 1,000-foot-tall Cumberland Plateau.
During a camping trip, I sat in a friend’s REI Flexlite Camp Boss, which is a larger version of REI’s Flexlite line of chairs that we mention in the competition.
