This was my first Gate 1 trip but there will definitely be more. Thank you for providing an experience that I will forever cherish. Jason our tour director was fantastic. He even arranged an activity for a free afternoon. He was knowledgeable, engaging, accommodating, well organized, which made the trip, which has challenging logistics, a pleasure.
The lodging choices were exceptional. The food ranged from very good to excellent, depending on the venue. Having the 4 nights in Zanzibar after the safari portion was so nice, as we got to “unwind” mongoose excursion from our whirlwind tour. I had an absolutely wonderful time on the Africa trip! I’m still processing all that I experienced.
We were able to catch them nursing. We also saw a lioness with her 1-yr old 2 cubs relaxing in a tree. Our elephant encounters in Tarangire NP were very exciting, we saw lots, including baby elephants. The Great Migration was another highlight, and we saw literally 1000’s of animals on the Serengeti plains. The pace of the tour was very fast, but perfect in my opinion.
We had the most fabulous tour guide (Jele) who was beyond knowledgeable, with a wonderful personality. I met some very wonderful fellow travelers in our group! Great itinerary, hotels, food, experiences and fellow travelers and I can’t say enough about our travel director, Charl.

I just wanted to mention specifically how impressed we were with Jason as a guide. The South Africa trip had the most travel involved than any other Gate 1 trip and he seamlessly prepared us for each part of the journey. He never overwhelmed us with details, but he ensured we were always clear on what to expect. He was also attentive to each member of the group and was very knowledgeable at answering questions on a wide range of topics.
