We Put Walmart’s Low-Cost Backpacking Gear to the Test

The Ozark Trail 250gsm is really meant as a 2 season sleeping bag – at a push 3 season but we would not recommend this for the depths of winter. It’s optimal temperature range is from 8 degrees celcius to 4 degrees celcius. It’s also not particularly light so might be best suited for a car camping excursion. However, I used this bag two nights last weekend and found it was too cold on its own—lowest temp was 51 degrees each of those nights.

Stay cozy even on the coldest nights of your camping or hiking trips with the Everest Mummy Sleeping Bag, +5F/-15C Degree. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless I wanted them to freeze and get a terrible night’s sleep. I nearly froze to death on the trail, ozark trail canopy and craftsmanship is garbage (to put it mildly). I used this bag two nights last weekend and found it was too cold on its own—lowest temp was 51 degrees each of those nights. It’s easy to use, and has an inside zipper pocket, anti-snag zipper, full neck baffle, and ClimaTech fiber for warmth.

And if you’re a patient shopper, you may be able to find it on sale. Keep children comfortable during nights in the tent inside the Ozark Trail Kids 2-lb Sleeping Bag. It is made from a breathable polyester material that keeps little one’s snug while they sleep. The zipper closure is up the side makes it easy to get into and out of in the morning. A carrying bag is included for convenient transport and storage.

This camping sleeping bag is also available in a selection of colors and designs. With the Ozark Trail Kids Camping Line, you can be sure that your little ones have their own gear that fits their size and personality. We think the most useful temperature rating for a sleeping bag is around 30° F. At this rating, a sleeping bag should be warm enough for most spring and fall conditions while also not being too stifling in the summer months.

Otherwise, the Polara is an excellent and versatile choice that we know most campers will really enjoy. One obvious drawback to the Flicker 40 UL is its expensive price tag. We think its quality matches its price, but that price may not be justifiable for all but the most serious ultralight aficionados. Its warmth-to-weight ratio is certainly outstanding, but you can attain an even higher warmth-to-weight ratio with a hooded mummy design, like the Therm-a-Rest Hyperion 20. Still, we believe the added versatility of the Flicker is worth this compromise.
