I tested the same three tumblers on one of the hottest Alabama summer days in early August. The temperature was in the mid-90s with a heat advisory in effect. The 20-ounce CamelBak Horizon tumbler excels at keeping contents cold.

Like our top pick’s lid, the Everyday Tumbler’s lid screws into the mouth of the cup, creating a watertight seal that doesn’t leak when you knock the tumbler over. And a rubber gasket holds the plastic straw in place, reducing any splashing. Much like our other picks that come with straw lids, the 20-ounce, leakproof Stanley The IceFlow Flip Straw Tumbler has a built-in flip straw, for quick beverage access. But unlike the straws on those other picks, the IceFlow’s straw can be tucked away when it isn’t in use. The tumbler also has an easy-to-grip contoured body and a carrying handle built into the lid (rather than jutting from the side), so it fits easily into a backpack’s bottle pocket.

This vacuum-sealed, stainless steel tumbler will prove to keep your cold drinks cold longer than 12 hours, and hot drinks hot. The sun and oppressive heat continues to bake the tumblers eight hours into the test. The pavement temperature rose to 144.8deg, the highest temperature measured all day. The Yeti had an external temperature of 111.5deg, the orca 104.7deg and the Ozark Trail was measured at 122.9deg. The Yeti drained a total of 11 ounces of water, the Orca 10 ounces and the Ozark Trail 12 ounces. This is the first time that less than half the ice remained in the tumblers and ozark trail tumbler it was melting fast.

However, we have personally washed the Ozark brand water bottles and tumblers in the dishwasher at my house without issue for years. This set includes a 30 ounce Kitchen Leaders stainless steel tumbler, a sliding lid, straw, straw cleaner, and best of all — the handle too. All in all, both mugs do an incredible job at insulating both hot and cold drinks for hours on end. Additionally, when holding each tumbler, I couldn’t feel any ozark trail chair heat or chill through the material, which makes either ideal for drinking exceptionally hot or cold drinks. As stated previously, all of these tumblers are well-built and will keep beverages cold for a long time, even is hot Alabama summer heat. The pavement temperature measured 122deg at the four hour mark.

Though the tumbler and lid are both dishwasher-safe, the one-piece lid has crannies where grime and gunk can build up. Deep cleaning this lid is not impossible, but it takes effort, attention to detail, and a straw-cleaning ozark trail chair brush (to scrub the interior of the straw). Airplanes, trains, and other modes of public transportation are not known for cleanliness, and you may prefer not to have your tumbler’s straw exposed at all times. The IceFlow tumbler’s straw folds out of sight—and away from germs and dirt—when you’re not using it.
