Genesis Mountain Pro Bike Off Road Trail Maeve

In contrast to the earlier bike though, it offers 7 speeds, with 1 on the front and 7 on the rear. I’m honestly not sure if it was just my bike, or if all of these bikes are that way, but it gave just enough, but not too much suspension in the rear. I must say, a lot of people don’t like low end bicycles with a full suspension, as supposedly the rear shocks tend to bounce and it makes for a pogo stick affect. The Vapour is Genesis’ CX race machine and there are three models available (10, 20 and 30).

The glasses port, sadly, is not particularly good as it is too wide to accommodate most sunglasses. Team Ineos’s favourite helmet, the Protone Icon is lightweight at around 200g and aero as well as comfortable. Like most modern e-bikes, the Fuel EXe Alloy is compatible with a mobile app, in this case, the Trek Central app, which gives you access to additional settings, as well as system updates. The application also offers bike setup tips, activity tracking, and a handy navigation system. There is no possible way a company can sell a bike with a proper drivetrain and working front and rear suspension for $150.

But despite the minimal look of the Air Cage, safety isn’t compromised. Essentially the cage design acts like a suspension bridge, distributing the forces of an impact across the entire helmet. Specialized’s updated S-Works Prevail 3 helmet is designed to be both airer and safer than the outgoing model.

However it was getting late in the year, so I wanted to bike before the snow came, so I bought it. The Tour de Fer is a steel touring-specific bike with a longer, stable wheelbase, and comes complete with mudguards and racks. The Mantle is the brand’s XC and endurance bike, and is a full carbon 29er hardtail with 100mm travel. The Montane Icemen (Pete Sissons and Paul Cosgrove) underlined the bikes capabilities as they used a pair of Croix de Fers to circumnavigate the 1600-mile coastline of Iceland in 14 days. And the Suspension fork with 80mm travel absorbs certain bumps, allowing me to enjoy the speed without having to deal too much with the soreness and numbness from the bumps.

We certainly found it to be both light and airy during our review period. An absolute favourite road bike helmet for us is the Giro Aether MIPS. On test we called it a game-changer of a road bike helmet due to its unrivalled all-around performance. Like its more premium sibling, the Fuel EXe Alloy is powered by TQ’s silent HPR50 motor. Designed to offer a more natural pedal feel, it only has 50 Nm of torque on tap, but that should be more than enough to boost you up the trails with enough energy left to tackle the descents with ease. As standard, the bike is fitted with a 360-watt-hour battery pack.

While there are slightly lighter helmets, such as the Kask Protone helmet, it was still an impressively low weight at just 269g (for a size small). Trek’s Fuel lineup of mountain bikes has been around for several years now, and has proven itself as a formidable player in the all-mountain and enduro categories. The addition of an electric motor and battery to this bike only genesis bike boosted its performance and appeal. This carbon-framed trail muncher proved to be quite the impressive bit of kit. Nowadays mountain bikes tend to be flatter and wider, however the Incline offers a more standard handlebar more like my hybrid bikes. The Equilibrium and Equilibrium Disc are also endurance/sportive-focused bikes, and come with a steel frame and carbon fork.

The latest version of the Prevail helmet has very wide vents and uses a minimalist MIPS implementation for great airflow. Sure they are cheap, heavy, made with really crappy components, and can get you from genesis mountain bike a to b. But, being assembled improperly is half the battle when buying a “Big Box Brand” bike. That if you are not an avid cyclist with basic bike skills can cost you as much as the bike to get repaired.

OVerall, the bike weighs in at about 20.25 to 20.80 kilograms, depending on your configuration and frame size. Prices start at $5,499 USD, and go all the way up to $7,399 USD, depending on your setup of choice. For more info, feel free to visit Trek’s official website linked below. I did have to buy some new pedals and I always carried my allan wrench because the handle bars would often get loose, other than that this was a dependable bike, I even had to outride a German Shepard one morning.
