With its proportions, and tapered headset it can have many higher end components added the bike to make it comparable to bikes much more expensive than it is. This includes new forks, better derailleurs, better handlebars and so much more. It was sub $200 and offered a lot for the price, as we will talk about here in a moment. There was a lot to like about the Genesis Incline, including the price, its suspension and even the styling, let’s take a look at everything more in depth here. After a lot of research, I had decided on the Schwinn Boundary, however once I arrived at the store the one I had just seen there had been bought, and I was left without a bike. The first Genesis bike was produced under the Ridgeback brand as the Day One model in 2001.

Not too long and well balanced with none of the ‘too much weight on the wrists’ feeling that sometimes comes on trail hardtails. I must say, a lot of people don’t like low end bicycles with a full suspension, as supposedly the rear shocks tend to bounce and it makes for a pogo stick affect. It is meant specifically for taller folks like me (I’m 6′ 1″) however I think people a bit shorter than me would be right at home. Finally, for the bikepackers, the Longitude is a fully rigid, steel-framed mid-fat expedition adventure bike. You’ll find a range of materials used in Genesis bikes, though the brand is well loved for its steel offerings.

The Vapour is Genesis’ CX race machine and there are three models available (10, 20 and 30). There’s the option of having a full carbon frame at the higher end of the spec too, or a more affordable version with an aluminium frame and carbon fork. The Mantle is the brand’s XC and endurance bike, and is a full carbon 29er hardtail with 100mm travel. The Genesis Tarn is a steel-framed short-travel hardtail with 120mm travel and 27.5in wheels, and is equipped with Maxxis Rekon tyres. The Liv Tempt 4 is relatively more expensive and uses a lightweight ALUXX-grade aluminum frame.

The front shock squeaked when I went over bumps, and the front derailleur wouldn’t shift through all of the gears. I found the rear suspension on the Incline to be perfect! I’m honestly not sure if it was just my bike, or if all of these bikes are that way, but it gave just enough, but not too much suspension in the rear. The bike also offers a full suspension, which means you have shocks in the front and rear of the bike.

genesis bikeI don’t have to worry about destroying the frame of my bike if I hit the derailleur. While I did like a lot of about the Incline, here were some things that detracted from the experience. We’re experiencing a very high volume of orders during this HOT HOT HOT Summer Season.

genesis bicyclesIt is one of the few low-cost full-suspension trail bicycles with a 3×7 drivetrain that has a wider range of speed options. Some may find the 3× drivetrain more complicated to shift, but it’s a better learning curve for newbies. It’s a much better learning curve for the novice, because afterward, whether the bike is replaced with a 2× or a 1×, you’ll be able to master it more quickly.
