Huffy Bikes Review: Are These Bikes Any Good? In-Depth Overview

Today, the majority of all business functions are located in the USA, but the production has been outsourced to China. So if you want your kid to fall in love with cycling at an early age, a Disney- or Marvel-themed Huffy kids bike seems like the recipe for success. Therefore, with a selection like this, any child, be it toddler or teenager, will easily find their dream bike.

It positions the saddle backward relative to the pedals, which puts you in an upright riding position and lets you easily touch the ground with your feet. Huffy is a popular brand of entry-level bikes aimed at recreational riders and families that want to spend more time together and on the go. As someone who uses an electric scooter to get around town, I can attest that an electric means of commuting makes my life much easier (and saves me cash on gas).

It also features tiny 20″ wheels, a 7-speed drivetrain, and front and rear V-brakes. The RadCity is a $1,499 e-bike from the largest electric bicycle company in the US, Rad Power Bikes. It offers familiar Class 2 e-bike performance with a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h) from its 750W rear hub motor. I’ve never ridden an electric bike before, but this baby is my new favorite toy.

As a result there were really only two situations where the pedal assist felt totally comfortable to ride with. This makes the gear tension constant and the motor makes the incline a breeze to overcome.

It doesn’t help that the saddle is uncomfortable—I’d swap it out if I were you—and the Oslo could stand to offer better suspension. Your butt will feel many of the potholes you accidentally ride over, and the rear battery simultaneously makes loud banging noises that make me feel like it’s going to fly out. Speaking of cruisers, the Electric Bike Company Model R is something of a cruiser meets commuter e-bike. It has a more laid-back riding style, yet has urban-ready tires and front suspension that is perfect as an urban assault e-bike.

The company even launched a step-thru version this year, further opening the door of accessibility. Still, Tern makes phenomenal e-bikes that are designed to last for years and years. They cost more, but they are worth it for anyone who favors the “buy it for life” mentality. While Rad Power Bikes makes great cargo and utility bikes, they can’t compare to the higher quality (though higher priced at $3,100+) Tern HSD. And if the $4,195 price is too steep, check out the slightly lower power (and some would say more reasonably powered) models from E-cells, which are still tons of fun while being more affordable.

Plus, you can track your ride stats and battery level on a large LCD screen. This pedal-assist ebike equips a 250-watt rear hub motor, which does a solid job of providing enough power most of the time; I usually found myself cruising around 15 to 20 miles per hour. Like my experience with most rear hub motors, the electric assist can be inconsistent. Sometimes it’s slow to kick in, and other times it goes on a few seconds too long after I stop pedaling. You can’t control the amount of power you get, but there is a 7-speed Shimano shifter that helps avoid the “pedaling air” sensation I often get with more powerful ebikes. Huffy Transic + is powered by a 350W rear hub motor and a 36V battery with a 25-mile maximum range.

The first time I took the Huffy Oslo out for a ride, the handlebars and seat post sank a few inches. Imagine a 6’4″ man on a kid’s trike. I’m happy knowing I gave someone on the street a good chuckle. As I’m getting older, 39 lol, I feel like I need an extra boost. Just kidding, to be honest the idea of not having to pedal for a certain period of time or up hills sounds like something right up my alley. It took a minute to get used to gliding away(very fast) but after that I was having a great time. The bike even comes in two different models, a larger format 26″ wheel e-bike and a BMX-style 20″ wheel e-bike.
